Re: Post the new plays you find!

would the formation be Shotgun- Wing Trio Weak by chance? lol.

I thought the Inverted Beer was when the QB vomitted on the field and the WR runs down field for a easy touchdown.

so the "Inverted Veer" is a playside power read option.

if you ask me, the Power Fk Jet in the Wildcat Spread Flex is pretty much this same play. the only difference is the RB motions from the slot. same pulling guard, and you can hand it off or keep it and run playside. works OK at best.

Re: Post the new plays you find!

Wait why are you guys all calling it the Inverted Beer?

Anyone how is this a new play? It's literally a fake handoff and a run in the same direction as the RB. This is the bread and butter of a running QB!

No it's a play side read option.

A lot of what you are saying is correct and it's getting late so I might not get this fully correct. But the purpose of the inverted veer is to force all defensive linemen into thinking too much. With motion comes tendencies, but without motion you can go anywhere and do anything.

I'll try to paint a picture. We will go typical spread 4 wide with a back on the right side of the QB in the gun. Basically in a typical veer your mesh will occur as the QB reads the (we will say strong side) defensive end. If the DE sits, the RB gets the dive; if the DE crashes the QB pulls it and heads for the edge.

Now the inverted veer is to take advantage of the weakside DE if he assumes that no one is reading him on this alignment. Based out of the same formation and without motion to give away the play side, the QB and RB mesh as the QB reads the weakside DE. This allows the QB to maintain similar footwork to what he would use if it was and InsideVeer or OV. The weakside DE of course crashes to try and get to the ball which he thinks is going away from him, but instead the QB is able to hand the ball off to the RB who is already 2 steps past the weakside DE. At some point you will just get everyone sitting and trying to read the back field at which point your QB can begin hammering the middle of the lines as well.

Short answer: The wildcat is veer football at its core, but there are some minor differences based on plays that you can run when you already have someone in motion.
