Re: Keeping your Dynasty fresh

One thing I do is when recruiting in a single player dynasty is I immediately find interest in academics. If I'm an A+ in academics, I can only recruit players with low interest in academics or higher. A, I can only recruit players with very low and higher. And below A, I can recruit anyone.

Another thing I do is start online dynasties that are split up by geographic regions. This year I think I'll do 4 star teams and under west of the Mississippi River. That way instead of playing the usual Georgia, OSU's, and Florida State's, I can be in a dynasty with teams like BYU, UCLA, Texas Tech, etc. Having all users in one geographic region also obviously increases recruiting battles as well.

Re: Keeping your Dynasty fresh

In my OD, we always start with the 6 lowest rated teams overall. We put 3 in each division with a cross-rival (user vs user). After a few seasons, we vote and rank users 1-6 with 1 being the best. Then we realign the divisions based on user records.

After we are killing the CPU and our teams are all 5 and 6 star prestige, we start over again with the 6 worst teams.

Re: Keeping your Dynasty fresh

Like others on this thread have said, I make up my own storylines to keep it interesting. In the past I've:

-Established traditions, such as passing down the number 13 from player to player based on who I feel is the most deserving of it (similar to how LSU passes down the number 18). I also have homecoming, where I'll wear a special jersey.

-Kicked one of my best players off the team for breaking team rules. One time I re-created him at a 1-star school for his senior year.

-Give a random player a big attributes increase/decrease between seasons and pretend that a player showed up out of shape or in much better shape. Don't do this very often, though.

-Mix up conferences often

-Give yourself strict recruiting rules, otherwise you can build a powerhouse VERY fast.

-Give guys 1-game suspensions, give a lineman a nagging injury that decreases his ability for a few weeks

-I change virtually every player's equipment.

The idea of making random events and drawing them for a storyline sounds brilliant. I will be doing that this year.

Re: Keeping your Dynasty fresh

I have a notebook full of probably around 30 fictional recruits that I make and keep stats on. Spread them out over long periods of time and place restrictions on them (ie. none until you're a 4*, no more than 2 a year, has to be a needed position, no better than an 84 OVR) It helps keep things interesting and keeps you motivated to get them PT and stats. I even have a kicker and punter that I make

For me I create storylines in my head. Create prospects and dont sign them. Just let them go wherever and keep tabs on how they do. Develop rivalries in my head. This year im thinking bout taking over Tennessee and returning them to glory.

Re: Keeping your Dynasty fresh

People saying that to make it fresh you gotta make up storylines and stuff.. but with me I save those for when the CPU does something stupid and I have to make up a somewhat realistic reasoning for it, so that I dont lose immersion. Hopefully I wont have to do that much in NCAA14 as much as I have in previous versions.

One thing I really miss was the personalization of recruits, each recruit felt different. Now adays they are like robots. Back in NCAA 09 for the PS2.. recruits used to make comments, take unofficial visits, and even ask for you to promise them specific things. Also your recruiting advisor would tell you random things from week to week like one time he told me 'I would take this recruit to dinner but I wouldn't let him date my daughter' LOL! Sometimes recruits would ask for a specific number, position, or starting job. I loved when a player would ask for a number that was strange for that position. Had a QB who asked for #26, a halfback #71 (who was an ATH and was a 99 ovr HB and DE his senior year), WRs asking for runningback numbers.. it was really cool and made recruiting, and dynasty mode in general, a lot more fun.
