Re: I suffer from RDS (Restarting Dynasty Syndrome)

I used to have this really bad, but the announcement that this is the last NCAA for a while kind of made the pressure a little less for me. I'll be playing for a while so there's lots of time to do whatever dynasties I want.

Right now I'm on year 4 of a Western Kentucky dynasty. Doubt I would have made it that far with a team I'm not connected with in previous games.

In the past I have had the dynasty where I end up changing coaching jobs what seems like very single offseason. But then I have also had the ones where I try to stick to just one team. It never fails. I get bored with it and feel like I could have picked a better route.

Currently I started a dynasty where I took over in year 2 (tried simming year 1 to be fairly close to what happened in football this year) as the OC for Kentucky. In year 2 I am dominating the SEC with Jalen Whitlow and I'll likely be in line to get a good HC job. This is what I wanted to happen...

But then I come on here and see somebody's signature where they are tracking where they have coached in their dynasty. Starting as an OC for a small program, then a big program, then a HC for a small program, then a big program. All for a couple of years. And I realize that seems way more fun than what I am currently doing. Now I'm wanting to quit my Kentucky dynasty and start doing something like that...

But then at the same time I know I'll end up getting bored and probably school hopping every year and not form any sort of longevity with any team.

Anyone else suffer from this problem? Anyone have any potential solutions? I think I need medication
Man, I know the feeling. I used to suffer from this same thing. What usually helps me, is when I start to get bored with a dynasty, I work on getting all the rivalry trophies in Play Now. This is very fun, and Ill do this until I'm ready to go back to my dynasty. In 12 I had all but 3.

Re: I suffer from RDS (Restarting Dynasty Syndrome)

I have played and posted dynasties on here for several years now in the dynasty section, and I too suffer from RDS..

This year I started out as the OC for Boise State my favorite team, but after guiding them to a National Title where I lost, I still felt like I had accomplished to much to fast. So I left taking a HC job at Eastern Michigan. After guiding the Eagles to a 8 win season and bowl victory I jumped at a chance to take over a 1-11 Cal team. Problem was I had success there as well, guiding the Bears to a Rose Bowl before losing to Iowa. Again I felt like I wanted something different, but rather then hit reset. I made up a story line that my coach resigned due to recruiting violations and ended up at Georgia State the only team that would hire him.

After a 6-6 season in Year 1, I went 11-2 winning the SunBelt in Year 2, I then spend a year as a Independent going 10-2 before moving to the SEC. I have now won 2 SEC Championships and 2 straight National Titles. (12-2) and (14-0). This year I started out ranked #3 and went 6-0 before switching my sliders around and now I am 8-2 and ranked #10.

Personally again I feel I have had success way to early and way to much. My Coach in 8 seasons is almost maxed out.

Personally for me if I do start over and I am sure I will with this being the last NCAA football game for awhile, I will go the route of OC at a small school for 2 seasons, OC at a Large school for 2 seasons, and then a HC at a small school where I can hopefully build them into a powerhouse before (6-10 years) before I head to my dream job or maybe a rebuild of a former National Power.

However I would recommend coaching progression be turned to slow, and recruiting restrictions on yourself as well if you find it too easy.

Re: I suffer from RDS (Restarting Dynasty Syndrome)

Things that help me:

Job upgrade restrictions:

I had to start as an OC of a low prestige school and could only upgrade to non-BCS schools a max of two stars better than my current school or BCS-AQ schools which were a max of one star better than my current school. I also made myself stay as an OC for at least 5 years total.

When I finally did become a HC I made a rule that it has to be a school at least 3 stars lower than the school where I was last an OC. The same rules for taking new jobs that I placed for a OC apply for HC with an added rule that I must spend 5 years at one school as HC before leaving.

I did have a few exceptions to these rules tho:

If one of my "dream jobs" opened up, I can leave to accept it at anytime, as long as I did not upgrade from OC to HC to do it.

Dream jobs include:
Indiana - My favorite
Wake Forest - Coaches alma mater
TCU - Idk why, I just like them.

I can also leave to be the HC at a school where I was OC previously at any time.

These would include:
North Texas
Colorado

Recruiting Restrictions

I kinda let these slide at the first two jobs, but at New Mexico State I'm imposing these restrictions:

- Can recruit any interested prospects
- Non interested prospects can only be recruited if they fit the following rules:
1) In state recruits signed can only have a rating 2-stars higher than school prestige rating (NMSU is a 1-star program, so in state kids can only be a max of 3-stars).
2) Players who are from out of state, but are from a pipeline state can have rating of one-star higher than school prestige (so 2-star max for now).
3) All non-pipeline recruits must be same rating as school's prestige or lower (1-star current max).
-Max number of prospects I can sign is # of seniors leaving +2.

Fun things to do to keep the dynasty fresh:
-Create myself and friends as recruits and track their careers.
- Implement a relegation system
- Use the Generic editor (found in the roster section of the forum) to make a project out of figuring out how to get the WAC into my dynasty to help the relegation system run more smoothly.
- Use the generic editor to set up a 4-team playoff.

I think I'm going to try out those coaching restrictions. Starting at Texas State. And my dream jobs will likely be

Washington - coach alma mater
TCU - same reason as you
BYU - just like their stadium and black alternate jerseys

I limit myself to only running the flexbone offense now. In any other offense I rebuild too fast.

Roll with a Heisman set (I'm playing with the one on the OS forums about limiting the read option) and give him an easy schedule with Michigan State and you take a crappy team if you're worried about too much success. That's what I'd do anyways. (Also, we play each other every year whether its MTSU vs BGSU, MTSU vs Oregon, and Oregon vs Vandy).
