So really at this point, the best thing we can hope for is that either the newer XBox and PS are backwards compatible with 360 and PS3 games. I know it's a far stretch for PS as they seem to have no interest in BC whatsoever, and I know we dont know too much about the next generation of consoles but supposedly MS is saying that the next Xbox will have "unprecedented backwards compatability"

I can't understand for the life of me why backwards compatibility is such an issue. Surely, it'd take someone who works on these things about a day of work to write a program, where the current gen console can emulate the last gen when the game disc is inserted. Obviously the hardware can handle the games many times over. It's just maddening that they're too lazy to make it work. Why can't a virtual "Xbox 360" be a program that can be downloaded (and paid for!) within the Xbox One? Seems fairly simple. And would be a console seller moving forward.

I'm sure trivializing and insulting all the coders and testers will definitely inspire them to get right on that.

It's not even that easy to make emulators. Computers that are many times stronger than the consoles right now still have trouble running emulators because it's not as simple as you all think it is.

There's about a .01% chance NCAA 14 is ever made backwards compatible. Anyone thinking it's something EA can have some employees do over a weekend and be done with are simply naive about what all would need to happen from a technical standpoint and more.

I agree. It isn't as simple of changing a few lines of codes. I'm okay with it not being BC honestly. If you already have it for a previous console, just continue with it. If not, just wait for possibility of new games.
While I am enjoying NCAA 14(I realized as I played it that I skipped NCAA 14 6 years ago), the game has a lot of flaws. So if it is just a as is BC port, then I probably wouldn't bother(mainly because I don't have it for my primary current gen console). If it was a remaster, then yeah I would be for it. But even then, it might not be worth it for developers. To have to update and modernize older engines, isnt as simple as some make it

Re: So......any possibility of NCAA becoming BC while we wait on a new game?

Another point that often gets ignored is that in order to make a game backward compatible Microsoft has to get the okay from the publisher. So that means EA has to okay any game being BC. I can't imagine EA or any other publisher of a sports game is going to make an annualized title like NCAA or anything else BC. Especially now if there is a possibility of a new title being released.

Microsoft also said earlier this year that they aren't adding anything else to BC until after their new console launches. So the earliest we'd even see anything would be holiday 2020 with the launch of Scarlett. And at that point if NCAA Football ends up with a new release there would be absolutely zero reason for EA to agree to make it BC.
