Cool NCAA 2006: Best NCAA game in the series imo

This game had it all. I've been playing it recently. And the gameplay is right there with NCAA 2004 the only additions are the ability to put more touch on your throws and impact players really. Dynasty has in-season recruiting, Heisman level is actually fun and I don't feel cheated, road games are legitimately tough and feel 'different'. NCAA 2006 is what college football should be, I've been playing it a ton the past three weeks in anticipation for NCAA 10, but I'm now worried that my standards will be too high. NCAA 06 was a gem. This might not belong here but I just wanted to get other thoughts on this great game.

How many duplicate NCAA 06 threads are you going to create.

And, for the record, that was my least favorite game of last-gen. It had no defense, poor pursuit angles, it was so easy to pass deep, and it had those stupid overpowered score-every-time impact players. Ugh...

I dont think so, 06 was defense heavy, but I can live with that.
The reason its not the best is because the lack of versatility in the playbooks, no slide protection was like the dinosour days, it mean't you were getting killed by the rush and blitz, also the lack of training mode for specific players in dynasty was tough.
O7 or 09 I would say are the best, because of expanding playbooks, and continuing the to build on the principles that 06 laid.
Dont get me wrong I loved NCAA 06, it got me back into college football gaming especially the addictive recruiting, but its been surpassed.

In what world was NCAA 06 "defense heavy?" It's not the one I live in.

06 was the pre-cursor to Wide Open Gameplay. Impact players ruined the 06 version. You couldn't stop an Impact HB and when you did tackle him it was an Impact LB who could only get him down by the facemask animation which cost you a penalty.

The streak on the play-action pass was money in double-coverage.

07 was better but the momentum meter could ruin a game for you quick.

05 was ok but the "hearing footsteps" caused so many drops, but even with the drops it was more realistic than 06. If EA could figure out "shorter passes equals better completion %, longer passes = lower completion %" they'd be gaining ground.
