Heh. I've tried using manual through balls, but I end up struggling to get them to have enough pace on them to go where I want them to go.

Re: Difficulty and Half Lengths

Difficulty: Pro

Game Speed: Slow

Half Length: 10 minute... though I've been trying out 15 every now and then.

Camera: Custom Tele - Height 6, Zoom 2

Assists:

Pass - Manual

Through Pass - Manual

Shot - Manual

Cross - Semi

Lob Pass - Manual

I've played about 10 games or so now with manual passing and it's finally starting to click. I had always played with whatever was default up until FIFA 10 and I would definitely recommend making the switch. The added human error makes the Pro difficulty pretty enjoyable for me. Though I think once I start to get better with the manual controls I may have to move to World Class.

For the guys who are playing on slow speed. What do you find are the advantages of playing at this speed? I've never tried it, always played on default speed in the past. I won't be around my PS3 until Sunday to test it out, so was just wondering. (Foolish friend's getting married...)

Changing to the Slow speed was the first thing I changed. The default speed is too fast IMO. It just seems like the AI is sprinting at full speed for the entire game. On Slow the pace of the game decreases.

Not sure if the speed has to do with it or not but I've actually seen the AI kick the ball all the way back to their goalkeeper to reset their attack. I do this all the time just to keep possession and to try a different attack but I've never seen the AI do it before until now.

Besides the obvious that the game slows down, you get to see the animations better and the tempo feels less rushed. I think that is one of the bigger issues with FIFA, especially those who enjoy real footy and want to play online. I think the build-up is more rewarding on this mode and lends you to attack styles outside of running down the flanks and bombing in crosses all day.

But yeah, give it a try. 1st hand impressions are always much better.

Seems like just about everyone tries the Tele camera. I switched to Broadcast out of curiosity and I love it. Plus, it looks better more like a game on TV.
