Some of us Americans do truly appreciate and understand the beauty that is soccer/football.
I apologize mates I don't mean Americans there are just a big percentage of yanks who despise soccer. When I first moved to Indiana I used to get made fun of for enjoying it lol. But I'm just excited for Tuesday and don't appreciate my favorite sport being called boring.

Re: First FIFA 11 Review

As an American who has always enjoyed the traditional sports, I am becoming a bigger and bigger Football fan (not NFL). So much that I wish American football would just change its name!

It is not a boring sport! Its only boring if you dont understand the strategies and/or lack the patience to do so.

This Review makes me wish that today was September 28th! I have always enjoyed the World Cup, but Fifa games have opened me up to club football.

I need to find myself a team to follow!

Re: First FIFA 11 Review

I guess its boring to some when they dont have that favourite team to grow up on or cheer for. I'm Canadian but grew up on manchester united so I have a passion for when they play. I also respect good games, like chelses vs arsenal and so forth. I think people find it boring when its just 2 weaker teams playing, even myself, will just watch the highlights of those games.

Re: First FIFA 11 Review

I guess some people find it boring because there are 6 shots on goal and 0-0 ties. But other than that it is exciting.

I don't think people realize how skillful and technical it is, they think it's just kicking a ball around.

I have to say though, I'm not a big fan of MLS, and I sometimes think Americans generally dislike the sport because MLS isn't as good as other leagues. How many Americans watch(ed) NFL Europe or the Canadian Football League? The players, crowds, stadiums, traditions, etc. just aren't the same. I watch the EPL all the time but can't stomach to watch my own league because in my opinion it's sub par and how can anyone learn to like soccer if what they see is mediocre?

The mls is great though IMO the supporters are great the Tifo displays have been up there with many of Europe supporters tifo in recent years. I don't think the mls is mediocre mate. I really enjoy going to toyota park every home game for the fire and that's a four hour drive I sit in section 8 now I don't follow the fire like I do Celtic but it's a very fun place to be. Crew stadium is actually closer to me being a three hour drive and I've been to a couple games up there and it is very exciting none the less. The mls also is still in a building stage footie has been in Europe over 100 years mls has been around for 16 years.

Re: First FIFA 11 Review

Celtboy I agree that soccer is a amazing sport. With the TV options getting better and better (HD, foxsoccer, ESPN) the sport will only grow. The MLS needs to continue to improve and they need to allow more Yanks to head overseas i.e. Donovan and that will help the sport grow in the US. I see you are from Indiana. Where about? I live in Northwest Indiana and have made it to a couple of Fire games and they are great. One other thing about the MLS is you can actually afford to go to a game without having to get a loan. The NFL and MLB cost a arm and a leg just to get in the door. GO GUNNERS

Re: First FIFA 11 Review

I grew up a baseball fan and became a diehard NFL fan, but as I got older and watched more international soccer, I began to move away from American sports (except NFL) and love the game of soccer. What's funny to me is that the people who complain about soccer being boring are the same people who watch baseball with its "incredible" shutouts and "amazing" perfect games. These are the same people who also complain about diving in soccer, yet watch the NBA with its floppers all about. These are the same people who complain about low scores or defensive battles in soccer, yet will sit through (and enjoy) watching the NFL where defensive battles abound every weekend and scores are sometimes 10-9 or 13-7 (the equivalent of a 1-0 or 2-1 game in soccer)... oh yeah, and let's not forget those kickers who tumble to the ground when they are breathed on. These are the same people who watch PGA golf for crying out loud!

How can a sport that captivates the world's attention be considered boring? The passion, the pageantry, the support is second to no sport in the world. The only thing that comes close is college football. I say all this as a diehard Chicago Bears fan, a cynical Cubs fan, a hopeful Bulls fan, and enthusiastic Blackhawks fan.

P.S. Soccer is the quickest sport to watch, typically ending in less than 2hrs.
