Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
After watching a few Youtubers doing a career mode with AS Monaco I decided to give it a go; I noticed immediately that AS Monaco signed quite a few players already before I got here including a few really young ones. so I put all my young players up for loan such as a 19 year old GK named Alex Maraval; he is rated as 55 overall and quickly got picked up for a season loan. One young player who I sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest looks very promising. He is a 19 year old CM named Jessy Pi; overall 62 already so I hope he does good things in Nottingham this season.
My transfer budget was $132,000,000 but keep in mind the wage budget was only $1,157,750 which means I knew I'd have to eventually reduce my transfer budget in order to get more wages.
The first shake-up I did was completely re-vamp the midfield and defense. I am using a 4-2-3-1 formation. Both my RB and LB were very young and hold future value but are not first team quality yet; my RB was a young 19 year old who looks promising and is overall 72 named Fabihno from Brazil; I wanted to keep him on the team but didn't think he was quite ready to start. My LB was a 20 year Frenchman named Layvin Kurzawa who is a 71 overall. Again, young talented prospect but not first-team quality.
I pursued a few options such as Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal but found their price too expensive despite my high transfer budget. I sent a scout to Brazil and found a player I really liked. He is a 22 year old LB named Alex Sandro who played for FC Porto. Overall 79 with plenty of room to grow. Has 84 acceleration, 81 sprint speed, 82 interceptions and 84 ball control. I got him for $18,000,000 which seemed like a fair price to me. Then I went out and found a RB. I found another Brazilian named Mariano who was on Bordeaux, ironically my first opponent of the season. He is 27, overall is 76. Some of his best traits include 87 acceleration, 89 sprint speed, 83 crossing and 80 ball control. I paid $9,000,000 for him.
I then needed a good solid CB since my to starters were over the hill; 35 year old Ricardo Calvalho and 34 year old Eric Abidal. I decided I was going to keep Abidal as a starter since he'd be a good veteran presence. I ended up signing Winston Reid from West Ham for $6,000,000. Of course he's from New Zealand and is a very strong and dynamic defender. After I got him I signed career mode legend kurt Zouma from Saint-Etienne for $11,000,000. He will be a good squad rotation player this season and hopefully a start next year when the old men retire.
By this point I needed to put more money in my wage budget so I did just that. My next point of emphasis was the mid-field. I liked my CDM Geofferey Kondogbia, a 20 year old who had just arrived from Sevilla. He is overall 78 and is incredibly strong. But I wasn't a fan of my other CDM Toulalan who is 29 and had just arrived from Malaga. So I signed an offensive minded CM to go with Kondobia and that man is Michael "Lex Luthor" Bradley. I got him for $9,000,000 from Roma.
Next I turned to my attackers and wingers to see what I need to do with them. My RW was of course the very young and talented Jesse Rodriguez who had just arrived from FC Porto for $41,500,000. But on the other side was a very young player, 19 year old Ferreira Carrasco of Belgium; future first-teamer but I needed a definite upgrade. I found a nice player who would fit my squad from one of my scouts. He is 21 year old LM Ola John who was at St. Benefica; he is a Frenchman as well. I signed him for $13,500,000. He is 78 overall. He has a 4 star weak foot, 4 star skills moves, 89 speed, 82 crossing and 82 curve which is perfect since he will try to cross the ball to Falcao.
I then decided to get another striker to be Falcao's back-up. I bought 22 year old Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for $9,000,000. He is pretty fast, has 4 star skills moves, is strong for his size and is a good compliment to Falcao. Then I bought the versatile Jonathan Dos Santos from Barcelona for $6,000,000. He is a nice squad rotation player.
I think I had about $35,000,000 after buying those players and selling a few scrubs of mine. My plan was to buy a lot of young above average players with good potential instead of 2-3 great players in their prime with a huge wage. That strategy worked out and it was then that I thought I should go after a great player in his prime. Now I am not talking someone like Ronaldo, Di Maria or Ozil here. As a City fan I though someone like Samir Nasri would be perfect for my squad. My squad at this point had Rodriguez playing the RW, Ola John playing LW with Joao Moutihno playing the CAM; I wasn't a fan of Joao playing CAM since to me he is more of a CM/RW.
I offered Manchester City I believe $20,000,000 initially for Nasri; we finally settled on $25,000,000. Once City agreed to the deal I had to lower my transfer budget and raise my wages. I cut it close since I knew Nasri would demand a big wage. He agree on a $220,000 a week wage. Once he joined the squad, I moved Rodriguez to the CAM, put Nasri as my RW. I will use Moutihno off the bench.
My starting squad is:
GK- Sergio Romero
RB- Mariano
RCB- Winston Reid
LCB- Eric Abidal
LB- Alex Sandro
RDM- Geofferey Kondogbia
LDM- Michael Bradley/Joao Moutinho
RM- Samir Nasri
LM- Ola John
CAM- Jose Rodriguez
ST- Falcao
