Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Update on Internazionale, season 1

Well, well... it's been quite a run. After 23 rounds of fixtures, I'm ahead of Roma and Juventus by a massive ten points.

Among the notable January/February fixtures was a thrilling Coppa Italia quarter-final against Juventus. Alvarez scored three in the first half, but Llorente got a lucky header just before the break. I managed to keep the score at 3-1 until about the 80th minute, when the scum scored another through a ridiculous Lichtsteiner goal. Somehow, I held on against a Tevez assault and knocked them out. I now face Udinese over two legs in the semi-final, while Roma and Milan battle it out for the other spot in the final.

I had about €20 million left after buying Candreva and Criscito (asked the board for €15 million by promising the title and a cup final), so I moved a chunk into wages and signed Matuidi on a pre-contract agreement. I sold Samuel for free to Stoke and terminated Rolando's loan, so I now have a load of cash PLUS the freedom to buy a non-EU player. Unfortunately, I couldn't sell Jonathan in this window, so he'll hopefully move in the summer.

Ryo Miyaichi, having been listed for loan and with an expiring contract, came in on a deadline day deal worth €1.5 million/€40,000. When I played Juventus away in the return Serie A fixture on February 2, he came on around the 70th minute, when things were still 0-0, and scored almost immediately. He then got another just before injury time began to secure the win. Talk about effective bargains!

Unfortunately, Ricky Alvarez got injured during the February international break. His lateral ligament is done in, and he's out for three months. I moved to a 4-3-3 Attack formation: Handanovic; Zanetti, Campagnaro, Ranocchia, Criscito; Kovacic, Cambiasso, Candreva; Palacio, Milito, Nagatomo.

With two goals against Sassuolo from the right wing, Palacio took his season tally of league goals to 18. He's now top scorer by a nice margin, as second-placed Hamsik and Florenzi have 15 each.

ADHAMM3R, I like your scouting concept. I follow a similar one: one 5/5 in the home nation, and one 5/5 in another where language similarities exist. Because Italian is spoken widely in Switzerland, I'll send a scout there as well.

As for SES, I think you're right. Assuming I agreed to sell him to Inter as Milan, I'd want close to double his value. I'm happy with the way things are at the moment, so I'll worry about transfers in the summer. By the way, who'd be a realistic replacement for Zanetti at RB?

I'll update next when I finish the season, hopefully lifting two trophies in the process!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

So I'm in my season season with inter and I've just discovered this whole 'pre-contract agreement' where you can agree to sign a player to join your team in the next season when their contract has expired.
I managed to get in pirlo who was rated 85 at the time, splashing £115,000 a week on him and he's now rated 76..how annoying.

Anyway, I wondered if any of you know who's contract runs out at the end or during the second season. Any list of good players would be appreciated, cheers

I would suggest possibly Azpilicueta, Jung, or Rafael. they aren't world beaters, but they are decent and could fill the void.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Updating my Dortmund file...

I've reached January 2016. Schmelzer asked to leave the club, so he is going to be on his way out. I have Criscito now to start and a youth player I hope to build up soon to play there. with the rise of Moritz Leitner (now 81), I find it very hard to get play time for Gotze, Reus, Gundogan, Kroos, Aubameyang, Sahin, and Leitner. The first offer I got was from Atletico Madrid for Sahin, so he will be shipped out for 12 mil. That will alleviate the burden on my CM players.

Offers were coming in like crazy for Torres. He was eventually sold to Ajax for 3.8 mil.

I wasn't able to loan anyone out, and I didn't buy anyone. I am pretty content with my squad, so I will wait until July to assess my team and figure out where I need players. My current XI looks like this

Weidenfeller (84)

Grosskreutz (81)--Subotic (85)--Hummels (85)--Criscito (80)

Kroos (87)--Gundogan (88)

Gotze (90)--Leitner (81)--Reus (88)

Benzema (87)

Bench

Gunter (61 GK)
Gnabry (72)
Aubameyang (80)
Martial (79)
Schmelzer (82)
Sokratis (82)
Piszczek (81)

Other notable players:

Soumaoro (CB 78)
Catarino (former youth player, CAM 74)
Adlung (former youth player, CDM 71)
Jaissle (former youth player, LB 70)

I might need a goalie that temporarily will be my starter while Gunter gets better. I will probably buy an aging keeper, probably a 32 y/o or so so that he will retire by the time Gunter is ready. Langerak will more than likely never cut it is a starting keeper for me. I am expecting Weidenfeller to retire in at most 3 seasons, with his overall dropping significantly in those 3 years. He might have one (two max) more year as a starting keeper. I will evaluate more when I get to that point, until then, I will ride him out.

I currently am top of the league by 10 points over Bayern. I also have qualified for the last 16 in Champions League.

I will update more at the end of the season!!!!

having an inter career in progress myself, I would strongly suggest Montoya from Barcelona, signed him first season for around 7mil, now rated 83 with potential of 85 (i think), and i'm only midway through the second season.
At left back i brought in criscito from zenit, solid, great going forward and reasonably cheap. He's also Italian.
i've also bought in oscar, nasri, david luiz, rakitic, verrattil, griezmann, cuardardo and muriel... strong side. but seeing as you've set your sights on mainly homegrown players this probably isnt much use to you!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

well! Here we are at the start of another season! BVB impressed and won the Champions Cup 2-1 over Real Madrid!!!!

I am managing Germany as well, and am currently playing the Euro. I have the quarters against Switzerland. The other matches are Italy vs. Spain (Italy won 5-4 in penalties), England vs. France (France won 5-4 in penalties), Netherlands and Sweden (TBD), and Germany (me) vs. Switzerland. With Spain knocked out, I am poised to win the tournament.

Back to BVB....

Kehl is retiring after this season. He hasn't played more than 3-4 matches for me, seeing as he wasn't quite good enough to crack into my team.

Piszczek and Sokratis have both requested transfers, so I must grant them that. I am hoping to ship them out of the league, so I won't have to contend with them. That being said, my RB position is now only down to Grosskreutz, and a couple youngsters who are not ready yet. I will probably go shoping, hopefully I will be able to find a regen or something. I am holding out until the Lahm regen appears, but that may be a season or two... until then, I need to find a solid back up that won't request much playing time. (most likely an aging player)

My midfield is definitely set, with world class players filling the positions and a few solid back ups (who are all under 24), that will be ready to step up and take their place if need be. Who knows, I find that RW/RM will be the battleground, as Aubameyang, Leitner, and Hofman (if he doesn't get loaned) will all be fighting for it. I still might need to find a potential bridge keeper, so I am keeping that in my plans as well. (speaking of that, when Weidenfeller retires, will his regen automatically appear on my squad, or do I need to go searching for him?)

Will update more when the window closes!
