Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After weeks of trying to get into career mode I've finally settled on palemro and take them back to serie A and try to compete with the top 4.

I'm playing on world class with Orion sliders as legendary this year is a pain but will bump up when I get used to the game play. I've disabled the first transfer window to make it more realistic (imo this should have been an option many moons ago)

My first objective is to bring in a scout an develop some youth till the transfer window when I can shape the team into my style of play atm playing a 3-5-1-1 it utilises the squad but prefer to play a central 4-1-2-1-2

Will update when I'm a few games in !

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Long write-up my first 1.5 years!

My only qualification for picking a team is that they must have been in a big 5 league and not have been qualified for a European competition for the 1st season. 1st transfer window is off and I will play 5 mins on Pro, but CL away games will be World Class and Tournament Finals will be on World Class.

Narrowed it down to:

Inter
Monaco

Flipped a coin, and ended up with Monaco.

In my mind, I was gonna spend a few seasons dominating France and make a CL run before I hopefully got to manage a soccer giant.

However, my tenure at Monaco was only 17 games because out of the blue in December I got an e-mail from the Manchester United board and they offered me the gig. I initially was not gonna take it because I wanted this to stay somewhat real, but I stalled the offer and looked into how Manchester United were performing because it would take something bad for Moyes to get sacked that early. Turns out, they sat 9th in the EPL, were 4/4 in their CL group with 1 point, and were already eliminated from the Carling Cup (2-0 by Wigan).

So, I again left the decision to the coin. Heads - Monaco, Tails - Man U. It was tails, so after only 17 games I was all of the sudden hotshotted into one of the biggest spots in the game.

I usually go small and limit myself to transfers (maybe one 85 or below player, but the rest usually in the 70s), but I felt given the opportunity I had to act swiftly and make an impact in order to remake United on the fly with my stamp on it. I went crazy in the winter transfer window and made up for the failure that was Moyes' summer window.

2014 Winter Window
Spoiler

It took nearly all season, but I finally clawed back in the last week of the season and overtook City by 1 point... and won the Barclay's Premiere League in my first season!

I was able to get out of the CL hole and finished 2nd in the group. Defeated Atletico Madrid in RD 1, but was Eliminated by Porto in the CL Quarter Finals (CL finals was Barcalona over Man City).

I had never accepted any of the International jobs because I was focused on the CL and the EPL. However, like clockwork, as soon as the league wrapped up I got an offer from Germany to manage the team for the 2014 World Cup. I accepted the job, and won my group. Got all the way to the Final where I met Brazil. Didn't thnik I ahd a chance because A)it's Brazil and B)I suck on World Class. It was 0-0 after 90 and Pato scored quickly in the first OT session. In the second half of OT, I thought I pissed away my only chance when Mario Gomez missed wide with a header on a wide open net. I get a corner very late, and Muller scores a clutch goal to tie it 1-1. Penalty kicks seem on the horizon, but I had a great counter attack and Lukas Podolski scored the biggest FIFA goal I have ever scored to finally win Germany the FIFA World Cup.

- Defeated Uruguay in RD 1
- Defeated France in RD 2
- Defeated Spain in Rd 3 on penalty kicks
- Defeated Brazil in the Final 2-1 in OT

I resigned from Germany after the match because I didn't want to deal with selections and extra games. I started out year 1 hoping to get Monaco into the CL, and ended it as a Premier League Champion and World Cup Champion!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I've enjoyed reading about all of your CM's, so I'll try to share mine again and hopefully OS won't log me out and erase my post before it goes up like last time.

Club: Leyton Orient
Difficulty: World Class - 7 minute half - Lenient Budget

I'm currently in October of my fourth season and my overall record looks like this so far..

Played - 195, Won - 124, Draw - 40, Loss - 31
Goals For - 313, Goals Against - 157

Biggest Win - 5-1 vs. Brentford, April 2014
Biggest Loss - 3-0 vs. Wolves, November 2013

Domestic Cups Won - 4
Continental Cups Won - 0

2013-14 Season
W42, D13, L8 - G108, A51
4-4-2 Formation

My career got off to a solid start with a second place finish in League One, which meant automatic promotion to the Championship. I made it to the semi finals of the Capital One Cup, and Round 3 of the FA Cup.

I sold my leading goal scorer, Mooney, in the January transfer window for $3M, which was 3x his listed value. I brought in a youngish Argentinian striker named Juan Duma for $1M as a replacement. I also redeemed a Scout a Future Star from the EASFC catalogue, which gave me a 15 year old RM to begin developing in my youth squad.

2014-15 Season
W43, D10, L7 - G98, A38
4-2-3-1 Formation

Going into this season I was already tired of trying to get by on a paltry budget of around $300K, so I decided to use a financial takeover and received a healthy $42M. I splashed the cash and brought in several young players that would serve as the backbone of my club for years to come. Adryan is the only one I can remember the amount I paid for ($9.3M), but I also snatched up Jack Butland to play in goal, Kurt Zouma as my anchor CB, Rodrigo Caio at CDM, and Maximilian Meyer as a utility midfielder. I didn't sell anyone during this season. I also redeemed another Scout a Future Star this season and received a 16 year old LW to add to the RM from the first season.

This was probably my most successful season so far because I again gained automatic promotion to the Premier League by finishing in second place, although it was tight as I finished only 1 point ahead of QPR. Bolton won the league running away. However, I did manage to win both the Capital One Cup and FA Cup, which meant I would be playing European league football the next season! I also won manager of the month for the first and only time so far in my career during this season.

2015-16 Season
W31, D13, L15 - G82, A57
4-2-3-1 Formation

Back to a more modest transfer budget of a few million, this season started off with very few squad changes despite nearly every club trying to pry Butland and Adryan away from me. I stood firm with my value of $20M for Butland and $25M for Adryan, and no one was willing to over spend to that amount for either player. I did bring in an additional striker after Zivkovic, who I brought in the previous season for less than $1M, went out with an ACL injury during the Community Shield match vs. Chelsea. The striker is a Brazilian youth player/regen named Barbosa da Silva who I got for $2M. He's quite pacy, but has below average WF and skill move abilities. I also sold one of my more dependable central midfielders, Romain Vincelot for a healthy $2.7M. Vincelot played well for my club, but he was 29 when I sold him and already starting to decline, so I jumped on getting back solid value for him. I also bought my first youth scout, 3*/2* I believe, and started adding more youth to the two players already in development.

The season started off surprisingly well for having a below average squad by Premier League standards. I stayed somewhere between 5th-10th place for most of the season, and finished somewhere around 8th. I was bounced from the Capital One Cup in the quarter finals, but managed to win the FA Cup again. I also made it to the round of 16 in the Europa League where I was absolutely steam rolled by Athletico Madrid.

2016-17 Season
W8, D4, L1
4-2-3-1 Formation

I saw a nice bump in my transfer budget to around $14M at the start this season. I decided to put most of that into securing another solid CB to replace the aging players at that position. I was finally able to land John Anthony Brooks, the young American CB who I had been after for a couple of season for a bargain of $12M. He instantly became the highest rated player on my squad at 80 OVR. I also brought in another LB youth player/regen from Bayern Munich for a little over $1M. I let Zivkovic go to QPR for a small $950K fee, but I was tired of his terrible stamina and I had moved on to more reliable players at the striker position.

This season got off to a rocky start as I began league play with 4 straight draws despite leading by a goal at some point in each match. Things were starting to look really bleak when I received a letter from the club board expressing their concern after a 2-1 loss at Sunderland. I managed to right the ship for the time being shortly after with a tough win vs. Liverpool early in the Capital One Cup and a dramatic, come from behind 3-2 win vs. Olympique Lyon in the Europa League group stage. I followed up those wins with a couple of victories in the league and a 4-0 smashing of Genk, and things seem to be coming together quite well for my squad this season.

My complete squad currently looks like this:

GK - Butland, age 23, 76 OVR, $4M value
GK - Maenpaa, age 31, 64 OVR, $200K value (never plays)
GK - Larkins, age 22, 56 OVR, $60K value (on loan at S****horpe)

RB - Rankovic, age 23, 66 OVR, $725K value (recently bought from Bayern for $500K)
RB - Trapp, age 18, 65 OVR, $425K value (youth player/regen, progressing nicely)

CB - Brooks, age 23, 80 OVR, $11.5M value (recently bought from Hertha for $12M)
CB - Zouma, age 21, 74 OVR, $3.3M value (has not improved in any single stat so far )
CB - Gunter, age 22, 70 OVR, $1.5M value (bought from Dortmund in season 3 after playing for my squad on loan in season 2)
CB - Bradbury, age 28, 69 OVR, $675K value (original club member)
CB - Barraza, age 19, 66 OVR, $600K value (youth player/regen currently in on loan with option to buy from Barcelona)

LB - Alar, age 20, 71 OVR, $1.5M value (youth player/regen bought from Bayern in season 3)
LB - Omozusi, age 27, 68 OVR, $675K (original club member)
LB - Sawyer, age 31, 63 OVR, $160K (original club member)

CDM - Rodrigo Caio, age 23, 71 OVR, $1.6M value (just starting to see stat improvement this season)
CDM - Ozuntali, age 20, 70 OVR, $1.4M value
CM - Pierre-Emile Hobjerg, age 21, 75 OVR, $3.9M value (recently bought for $5M + James from Bayern)

RM - Snedker, age 18, 68 OVR, $950K value (my scout a future star youth player)
RM - Odubajo, age 23, 65 OVR, $625K value (original club member who's been incredibly clutch in the past 3+ seasons)
RW - Boateng, age 22, 67 OVR, $875K value (currently in on loan with an option to buy from AC Milan)

LM - Cox, age 29, 72 OVR, $2M value (original club member & been very dependable)
LW - Pelagotti, age 18, 70 OVR, $1.5M value (my scout a future star youth player)

CAM - Adryan, age 22, 76 OVR, $6.5M value (progressing slowly)
CAM - Meyer, age 21, 72 OVR, $3.2M value (progressing VERY slowly)
CAM - Sherratt, age 23, 56 OVR, $130M value (original club member but never plays)

ST - Duma, age 22, 75 OVR, $4.4M value (very happy with his progression)
ST - Barbosa da Silva, age 20, 68 OVR, $1.2M value (recently purchased after playing for my squad on loan in season 3)
ST - Capellini, age 18, 62 OVR, $375K value (currently in on loan with an option to buy from Chievo Verona)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Tips for those who want to start a CM with low level clubs:

Bring in players on loan! I can't state how much this has helped my squad depth and overall success. I almost never brought in players on loan in my FIFA 13 CM, but I've been really successful with it this year.

Also, starting in about the third season, search top flight clubs for their young players and try to bring them in on season loans with an option to purchase. I've found that this helps identify players who don't progress as they should more easily.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Just started my Next Gen CM on Xbox One, and wanted to share this. I run a webpage for my CM, and haven't updated it yet for Next Gen. (getting up first two games today). Anyways, used to save snapshots from games to use in my match reports...can't do it on the Xbox One, but what you can do is save actual video to the Skydrive Cloud, and then embed.

Here's a sample of the quality, this will be embedded in my second game match report. If you make it full screen the resolution is outstanding.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I bought the game when I went abroad in October and started my first CM early this month. I finished my first season yesterday and have completed the first four games of the 2nd one.

Wigan Athletic: 2013-14 season
Location: Wigan, UK
Stadium: DW Stadium
League: FL Championship

After thinking it over quite a bit I decided to start my CM with Wigan and try to work my way up to a larger team.
My season started fantastically with a great 2-0 victory over Man Utd at Wembley. Jordi Gomez scored in my only attack in the first half at 39th minute. I then held on to 1-0 until a header from Emmerson Boyce secured the victory in the 87th minute. My season started fantastically with a great 2-0 victory over Man Utd at Wembley. Jordi Gomez scored in my only attack in the first half at 39th minute. I then held on to 1-0 until a header from Emmerson Boyce secured the victory in the 87th minute.
Things quickly started going downhill though and my first 5 games all went 0-0 which is just as boring as it sounds.
After just 10 games in the league I'd had enough though and started browsing for jobs. Luckily QPR were looking for a manager so as soon as the 4th of October I played my final game at DW Stadium and moved over to London.

Performance

Community shield: 2-0 victory against Man Utd
League: 11th place, 4-6-1 record which equals 18 pts in 11 games.
Carling Cup: Eliminated against Cardiff City after beating Burton Albion and Gillingham in earlier rounds.
Euro League: Only succesful venue for me really apart from the Shield, got 10 pts from 4 games against Helsingborg from Sweden (twice), Estoril from Portugal and Vitesse from the Netherlands.

Transfers I made while at Wigan:
Spoiler

Queens Park Rangers: 2013-14 season
Location: London, UK
Stadium: Loftus Road
League: FL Championship

When I took over at QPR, the team was currently in 7th place. I liked the current squad except for the strikers which all had something like 0.2 goals a game. Still, things went on quite well and in January things got even better with the arrival of Kenwyne Jones. Jones scored 15 league goals in 16 appearances which secured a playoff spot with 91 pts. Unfortunately my former team Wigan and Watford were just above me with 94 and 92 pts respectively. A victory in either of my last games against Blackburn and Nottingham Forrest would've secured automatic promotion but for some unknown reason I lost away to Blackburn before only managing a 0-0 draw against Forrest.
I breezed through the playoffs though, winning Blackburn 5-2 on aggregate (3-1 away and 2-1 at home). I then killed Bolton at Wembley with 6 goals to none with Kenwyne Jones scoring 4 in the first half before good old SWP added 2 in the 2nd. QPR would be playing in the BPL next season!
In the FA Cup I was shocked to see my first game in the 3rd round would be away at guess where: Old Trafford! It seems like Man U are afraid of me though as I beat them 2-1 and Kenwyne Jones made immediate impact on his debut. RVP made it 1-0 in the 17th minute. Nothing happened then until Jones came on in the 59th. He scored as soon as the 65th before securing victory in the 88th.
Victories against teams such as Newcastle and Crystal Palace followed along with some smaller low-tier teams. My fellow countryman Gylfi Sigurdsson then shot me out of the competition by scoring a hat-trick which secured Tottenham a 3-1 win at White Hart Lane.

Performance

League: Finished 3rd with 91 pts, 20-9-6 record after I arrived from Wigan. Good enough for a spot in the playoffs.
Playoffs: Very easily through, total score 11-2 in 3 games.
FA Cup: Got eliminated in the quarter finals against Spurs after wins against some PL clubs like Man Utd, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

Transfers
Spoiler

Queens Park Rangers: 2014-15 season
Location: London, UK
Stadium: Loftus Road
League: Barclays Premier League

Currently I've played 4 games in the league, getting 5 pts and sitting in 13th place. I started with a bitter 1-0 away loss to Fulham before getting my first 3 pts at home vs Newcastle. Since then I drew away to Aston Villa and at home to Southampton, both 1-1. I also bought Bartra from Barca following the loan spell last season.

Will update as the season progresses!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

PALERMO 2013-14

Not the best of starts currently sitting in 9th (5W 6D 4L) just starting to get the hang of the 3-5-1-1 formation I've tried others but the team seems to not work if I change it but still in the copa national R16 but next opponent is Roma! So fingers crossed

Best player so far has been Paulo Dybala he manages to just push through defenders like no tomorrow also got a Greek CF (can't remember name) that come through the youth system he's already 6 goals up at 55OVR ad has potential to be 94 he's also had a call up to the national side after 3 games !

Also had international jobs for Austria and Sweden and can't choose who to go with both sides have a decent squad and I'm leaning more towards Austria as I managed Sweden to the semis last year so could do with some help

Next update will be after the transfer window !
Hopefully I can bring in se players to turn this season around.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After a pretty successful season with Dynamo Dresden, in which I finished 7th in the Bundesliga 2, PSV came calling in December of my second year. What a step up in quality it's been so far. Not really sure what moves I'm going to make come January, but I definitely need to add another ST to my reserve squad.

It's also not like I inherited a lame duck PSV either. They're currently fourth in the Erdivisie, and leading their group in the Champions League. I guess the old manager pissed off the board or lost the room or something.
