Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After reading through this forum, I thought I'd start and get involved on here.

I'm currently Birmingham City in my first season, just after the January transfer window (my previous save was corrupted after 5 seasons).

I currently sit 2nd in the championship, after going on an 11 game unbeaten streak and continuos good form. I was eliminated in the Capital One cup by Swansea on penalties, while I'm currently still in the FA Cup after I scraped a 1-0 victory against arch-rivals Aston Villa, and then surprisingly winning 1-0 against Chelsea (albeit it was mostly their reserve squad).

In the summer transfer window I brought in:

Harry Kane for £1.2 million from Spurs (current assist leader in league)
Sam Vokes for £1.4 million from Burnley (2nd top goal scorer in league)

That pretty much blew my budget so I sold Lovenkrands, Zigic and Burke.

In the just gone January window I brought in Iliya Milanov, a 61 rated CB who was a free agent to provide cover in case of injuries, while I signed Jack Colback, a 24 yo CM from Sunderland on a pre contract deal.

The only major outgoing was Jonathon Spector who wanted to leave on the last couple of days of the window, so he went to Hull for 300k.

This leaves my starting XI as

Randolph
Eardley Thorpe Packwood (c) Caddis
Adeyemi
Kunert (youth squad) Allan
Shinnie
Kane Vokes

Will probably update later on in the season!

Yeah I have, but the options are limited as many aren't good enough for my team or are a bit generic. Also, I never get Venezuelan or Paraguayan free agents because... they don't actually exist. Thanks for your suggestions tho!

Press Conference

Q: Congratulations on advancing to the quarter finals of the Champions League. That PSG match as a true nail biter coming down to the end there. What were your thoughts in the closing minutes of that match? Also give us your thoughts on your convincing first leg win over PSV in the quarter finals.

A: The second leg of the PSG game was one of the most most nerve wracking games I've managed. We came in with a two goal advantage, but they had scored two away goals during the first leg. They struck early to put us on our heels, but Depay was able to equalize to ease the pressure before half. In the end they scored their 2nd goal in the 61' minute and they needed just one more to advance based on away goals. For the last 30 minutes they laid siege to our goal, but the defense and the keeping of Giefer stood strong and we were able to advance. In the next round we found ourselves matched up with PSV and were able to win the first leg at home while not allowing any goals in. The two goal advantage should be a good advantage, but as we saw with PSG, nothing comes easy in this competition.

Q: You were able to hold on to the 2nd spot in the league table, but Barcelona is creeping up behind you. They are a team that is used to fighting for the league title and should be coming on strong these last two months. Do you think you can hold them off?

A: Barcelona are a great team and I know they are not likely to falter on the back end of the season. The Champions League play has definitely been putting some stress on our performances in league play as this is all new to us having the added fixtures in our schedule. I am proud of how this squad is holding up, and we won't be making any excuses. We are going to continue to fight in each of our matches and aim for the 3 points from every match.

Q: Real Madrid have a 6 point advantage over you with 9 matches remaining. Is it fathomable for Deportivo to finish the season winning their first title since winning it all in 2000?

A: I'm not going to rule out anything. In football, anything can happen. We have all seen crazier things happen. However, with a team of that quality ahead of us, it is going to take a lot of skill and a lot of luck to be able to pass them. We just need to focus on our matches and take as many of the 27 remaining points as possible.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

If you want some solid low OVR players (like 60s) then I'd recommend looking at the Australian A-League. There aren't many players over 70 OVR (especially initially) but there are some pretty good players and most of them are cheap on the transfer market.

Interesting... It will be even more interesting to see how you set up your team as opposed to how I am currently doing it. Not sure if you've read my AFC Wimbledon career updates but, good luck.

Brighton confirm Indiblue departure to Arsenal

The 2016-17 season looks set to be Indiblue's last as manager of Brighton, as he has agreed a provisional deal to replace Arsene Wenger as manager of Arsenal effective July 1, 2017.

As per the details of the agreement, Arsenal may choose to withdraw the offer between now and June 30, 2017 for any number of reasons, among them being Wenger choosing to retain his position. However, it seems unlikely as the Frenchman already announced his retirement in 2017 at the end of last season.

More detailed statements will be released by both clubs at the conclusion of the ongoing season. For now, Brighton are asking that everyone associated with the club continue to extend their full support to the manager and team as they seek to retain the Barclays Premier League title.
