Re: CD event Feedback: Game Modes/Sliders/Settings

They did a good job of putting you in the shoes of a GM this year, but what I want to feel now is that immersive experience around the league. I'm a hardcore dynasty poster, and things like being able to see stats from your own previous games, not to mention other games around the league, is key.

In Be A Pro mode, maybe add some of the features from early Campus Legend/Superstar? Those were some innovative things, and they would really make the entire experience longer lasting.

Lastly, I completely agree with the rosters. If I have Alexander Ovechkin coming down on Wade Redden, I want him to completely get dangled. I've started to build my franchise around tons of depth and three+ lines of all 80+ OVR players as opposed to the stars, because the stars don't seem to mean much. Why have 100 stat points if you only use 50(usually less than 30)?

Re: CD event Feedback: Game Modes/Sliders/Settings

I'd definitely like to see the aforementioned slider tweaks, both more notches on both sides, and them being more effective. I haven't played nba 2k10 in forever since I'm hooked on this, but I can say that even with sliders maxed out, sometimes they don't make enough of a difference. Some are great, like shooting sliders, but other ones just plain don't. So not only include more notches, I guess we'll call them. But also make sure that when you have them set to max or minimum, that they're completely effective. If I the CPU's acceleration at 0, and mines at 5, I should be doing circles around them. I'm not sure if people see this as "pointless". Many people wouldn't actually use this setting, but in reality it needs to be that effective for us to find a good balance. Having 0 as a setting should reduce their speed by 200%. Madden is a prime example of that. HUM pass rush for most is at 100 and they still only wind up with 1 sack per game, and more often than not it's a coverage sack.

Aside from that, I'd really like to see more play types other than crash the net, behind the net, and overload. Forechecking and dump and chase should be much bigger parts of the game. And I'd love to see more things that we see in the NHL. The big crowds around the net, sometimes with 8 players all jamming at the puck, the defensemen trying to protect the puck and bat it out while the offensive players are trying to bang it in. A lot of goals happen this way and it's not even close to being represented in this game.

The HUM AI teammates need an overhaul too. No matter the play type, they hardly ever actually make any effort to go after the puck. As soon as I shoot, they skate off, even if it's crash the net strat and the puck is heading towards them. I can get the play to work every now and again, but people should be CRASHING THE NET, not running away. Same with your defensemen AI. They chase people around, leave openings in front of the net, and are usually so out of position they give up multiple rebounds before they get there. And this is coming from someone who wins the majority of their games. If it has to be that way, and I agree there should be openings, then let the CPU make the same mistakes, overpursue and be caught out of position. It happens yeah, but not nearly as often as it happens to your team.

Last but not least, more aggression from your teammates with going to loose pucks. Even if I have 3 players in their zone and only one of them is going towards a loose puck with me in pursuit, my other players skate off and act as though the other team has gained possession. And on passes that drift right in front of them, they won't step up to intercept it, they just skate backwards. Which basically means you have to maniacally switch players to do everything.

I would love the CPU Difficulty slider to be broken up into pieces. I hate that I need that slider to make the game more difficult but it does it in game breaking ways for me. For instance I had Patrick Kane get chased down on a break away by a 75 speed dman when Kane had at least a 5 ft lead at the blue line. It would be better if all the things in that slider were broken up so we could balance out effects.
Im hoping EA actually gives us more control over sliders this year. Its not like our sliders get used online and if they are worried about sliders being abused in some way I dont understand that either. Please EA give us as much freedom as possible.

Re: CD event Feedback: Game Modes/Sliders/Settings

I love the idea of adding a Winter Classic Mode to the game. It'd be neat to include the sites and weather from all the previous WC games. How fun would it be to play in the snow in Buffalo?

As for sliders, something I'd like to see added is a slider that affects how well your AI teammates play. It drives me nuts when my non-user controlled teammates stand around and don't try to make a play on the puck or pick up a forward who is skating towards our net.

I'd also like to see an ice friction slider and I'd like to see fatigue re-worked. You should have to juggle lineups when you play back-to-back games and if you play say 4 games in 7 days, you would have to play your backup at least once. The way it is now, starting goalies never tire and there's really no need to play a backup unless you want to do it or your starter is struggling.

As far as features go don't add something to the game like "Battle for the cup" and act like it's some amazing new feature when it's simply a one series playoff mode.

A great idea passed around on the EA NHL forums (not my idea) if they implement goalie fights would be a "Goalie Fight" slider that either ramps up the frequency or tones down the amount of goalie fights in a game.

Out of curiosity. When is this event?

And since Madden did it. They need to increase the scale of player ratings. With overalls starting at 50 and individual attributes able to go down into the 40s. This would separate the stars from the role players who are good at only a few things.
