You can pull some ridiculous "Gorilla Press Slams" with this thing:

Ultimate Warrior, is that you?

I mean, there's almost no point to doing real hits now. Or spending any points in the hitting attribute, for that matter. Just cannonball into the guy with a hip check animation.

Re: The "new" hip check and lack of penalties

The EASHL is quickly turning into a hipchecking contest. If you can avoid the 5 bent over players you can usually score pretty easily. The problem is when you pass a guy he can just stick his *** or head out and you go flying when in reality it wouldn't even phase you. I gave up on going for regular hits because of how hit and miss they are. The hip check will be more and more abused as people learn it is the most effective way to check in this game.

This needs to be tuned along with the lack of penalties.

This is kind of what I'm meaning, and this is me just clicking R3, and what I get is a nasty cross check which knocks the opponent out.
A regular check wouldn't have caused this...

So this is exactly what I want the R3 to be like... Only that it needs to be called a penalty, since it is a dirty blow.

Yeah people are catching on to how ridiculously overpowered this move is. And it's pretty much the only defensive move people do online now lol

You can hipcheck people out in open ice completely away from the play and they won't even call interference.

Oh, and if you play center, the other team can come in and hip check you off the face off every time without penalty.

Ridiculous.

Is this a NHL game or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater? Looked to me like a boardslide grind into a backside ollie?

Basically, a powerful check that is somewhat dirty, and in most instances will draw a penalty.
You know what, Jez? I think this is a damn good idea, provided more animations are included and penalties called appropriately. However, I doubt very much the NHL would want to a button dedicated to head-hunting, although... if it's in the game, it's in the game.

Why can't EA get the penalties correct? I just don't understand.

I hope EA patches the penalties. It's crazy how they basically worked last year, but don't work this year. Very rarely do I get more than 1 penalty a game regardless of the minutes per period.

Miracle lastnight, I actually had 5 penalties in ONE game...but, all 5 were Interference. And the other games, 99% of the calls are interference. Crazy.

I find the the penalties in NHL 11 were a joke. No interference on blatant hits, but you tap a guy and it's called interference. A joke in my opinion.

The penalties are fine in this game, the frequency just needs to be adjusted.
