2-4-1 since starting the season with 8 game win streak. Don't feel so bad since Buffalo started 9-0 and are now 9-8.

Re: How's Your GM Mode going? NHL 13 Edition

Currently I'm managing the Detroit Red Wings in be a GM I'm in the 1st season and close to the post season. My lines are as follow...
Offence:
LW: H: Zetterberg(89) C: P: Datsyuk(95) RW: J. Iginla(85)
LW: D: Cleary(81). C: B: Marchand(86). RW: J: Franzan(83)
LW: D: Miller(78). C: V: Filppula(83). RW: T: Bertuzzi(79)
LW: T:Tatar(75). C: D: Helm(81). RW: P: Eaves(77)

Defence:
LD: N: Kronwall(88) RD: M: Giordano(86)
LD: K: Quincey(84). RD: I: White(84)
LD B: Smith(77). RD: J: Tootoo(77)

Goalies
P: Rinne(89)
M: Kiprusoff(87)

So far my first line is lighting it up and Rinne and kipper have been a great pair but there both a little expensive together contract wise. My salary is at 66.995 million out of 70.200 million that's leaves 3.205 million to spare. I sim most games and we are doing good. Does anyone have any tips on how too make my team better? I have no major contracts expiring so that's a good sign.

In some ways it may not be the most realistic to real life, but you can easily pass on the costs of one of your goaltenders. You can have a very inexpensive backup goaltender, and it won't make your team much worse at all.

I'm not much of an expert on all ways to make your team better. If I have any players at all below 78 they are on my AHL team. Typically I find players at 79 in the free agent market to boost up my fourth line on either offense or the D.

But that goalie idea will surely give you a way to free up some money.

Yeah player development in the BAGM is lame and unrealistic for the most part.

Thanks for the tips I think ill trade kipper in the off season He old and if I trade now I can get a little return value not much. I kinda blew must first lines up and that's where the money is at I pretty much pulled a Flyer move we mostly rely on our first 2 lines.

If you want a really good young player get Sven Baetashi off the flames he's weak at first but if you throw him on a line with veterans he will improve fast he can become a Crosby on your team.

It's not a question of having someone who can develop to that level. It's that once I have more than 3 players reaching 88 or 89, you have to put them onto your second line. Once you do that, they go down. I had Yakupov at 78 to start, went up to 87 in his first season on the first line. When the season finished, Eberle and Hall and Nuge had all reached 88 or 89, so at 87 I said ok, well I guess Yak has to go to second line. No problem I thought, he's still on PP, PK, 4 on 4, and moves up to the first line if there's injuries.

Well he moved down 3, despite having a stellar scoring season. Next season he went down again, and now he's an 81 forward, in the fourth season.

So yeah, whoever might go high, if they're not on the top line, they go down. The game is forcing us to have a mixture of stellar players, good players, moderate players, and so so players. No matter what you do you can't get all your players to go up, so it's not a real matter who it is you pick for the most part.
