Is NHL 13 Worth It???

NHL13 is a half finished product, you may as well hold off until NHL14 at this point.

- The new skating engine is a good idea, but is poorly implemented.
- Custom Ai feature is awesome, but you can't use it for the other teams in Be A GM and that defeats the purpose of having it.
- Still just as many head scratching trades in GM mode
- GM connected, poorly implemented, missing features and slow to load
- Ai players are just as dumb as NHL12, but now can't skate and never poke check
- Hitting physics are laughable
- way too many strange, fluky goals. Or goalies making over the top saves on legit scoring chances
- Five hole, five hole, five hole, five hole. Scoring seems stale
Be a Pro...pure garbage, they have not touched this mode in years. Lame!
- Lack of CPU penalties

I could go on and on with what is wrong. Lets hope NHL14 offers something more.

If you do a search of the impressions thread, you'll see my review at the time was pretty good...

However, that was back in February. Now, I have no desire to play it. When I do, it's pretty underwhelming.

Too sloppy, players whiffing on easy passes and slapshots, falling down if they're nudged, hitting is hard to do for me against the CPU, and with the exception of the crowd noise, goal scoring is bland, due to the lack of celebrations.

Not to mention the extremely slow load/ sim game times. Ugh....

Probably gonna become a trade-in for something else. I'm still going with 11 (4 years in my BeaGM), and still having a great time! Just plays a more fun game of hockey, IMO...

Ah well, I tried to like 13, but meh. Oh one thing I noticed that should go in the B&G thread, but like I said I won't be keeping the game: with about 40 seconds left, the CPU pulled its goalie. Good, however, the ******* CPU never put him back on the ensuing face off in their end. Lol, easy empty netter for me...

and NHL 14 may or may not be better. Honestly if you can get this game $30 or cheaper I would get it. Yes there are plenty of flaws, especially if you're a die hard hockey guy. I still haven't played a deeper, all around hockey game.

Unless you're really interested in the updated rosters and such, no. I mean, there are subtle tweaks like other people have mentioned, but overall it's a small leap for the series. A good game on its own, but over last year's not THAT great.

I have an update 2012-2013 roster for NHL 12 and after the mixed reviews, I think I'll just buy NHL 14 when it comes out.

What are you guys smoking? YES! NHL 13 is the best NHL game yet. The skating is something you have to get use to but if you like REAL hockey then this game is the way to go.

This is the most I have ever played the game. I'm 60+ games in to my online league with a friend and I just figured out the best strategy to use for my team.

If guys say it's bad or sucks it's because it's "too hard" for them.

Real Hockey ....lets not get carried away now . I do feel though the Skating engine alone makes it better than any of the previous EA NHL's.

Well, you know what I mean. You can't just turn on a dime and be at full speed. You really have to consider angles and player speed when playing.

The game does reward you for playing realistically... setting up your offense and such.

You can't deny it plays more like real hockey then it ever has with board play as well.
