The last version of NHL I bought new was '08 (more than a decade ago). There was a lot that I liked about the game, but I really missed the option to play shorter seasons. I also didn't like not being able to modify the way the clock worked (speed up for the first 19 minutes, and then real time for the last minute)....I don't think many people cared about that, but I found it annoying LOL.

I tried again several years later buying '11 used well after release. I seem to recall this version not saving settings??...something pretty basic, but really hurt the experience.

I'm about ready to throw in the towel on NHL 19. The game was enjoyable at first, but now it's just reverted back to my usual frustrations. AI awareness is just bad and the CPU scoring spree after they fall behind in games just continues to give you the vibe that the games/results are pre-determined.

Im assuming you are talking about offline. Are you playing on True-Sim? Try competitive instead. It takes tweaking and I have CPU difficulty maxed but I’m finding the game plays better and more realistic on that setting rather than True-Sim. On True-Sim the CPU over passes with tape to tape magnet passes and has super comeback ability.
I have a lot of complaints about this game but this discovery is allowing me to play my offline season mode.....For now

Yeah, I'm on the Full Sim setting, All-Star difficulty.

In my last game, CPU wins the faceoff and my RW and DEF both decide to rush the D-Man, leaving the CPU winger wide open for a pass and goal. That's the type of crap that drives me nuts, because I'm powerless to stop it.

At this point, I'm not interested in playing the slider game and honestly, not much really changes in terms of the overall experience.

@jake19ny:

Do you use any sliders on competitive or just out of the box v 1.01?

Thanks to Madden and a team that actually patches and cares about the franchise folks, I haven't touched NHL 19 in weeks. To be honest, I don't have any desire to fire up my franchise either.

I'm sure at some point I'll play it, but that would be just to get a hockey fix.

I will not purchase NHL 20 unless franchise mode is revamped and game play gets a long overdue injection where the NHL team figures out how to make the game dynamic and unpredictable.

I had the same issue with Madden and finally this year Madden has been such a joy to play. Top players stand out, teams play differently and the franchise mode is a perfect blend of fun and just enough depth to keep me engrossed in its universe.

Pretty much out of the box 1.01. I tweak a couple of things.
Attribute effect 8
Goalie Reaction 75
CPU difficulty 6
All penalties that were at 50 I moved to 65

I no longer have patience to tweak sliders so that’s about all I do. I’m only 5 games in and if I tweak anything else it would be in the passing and puck control area

I hear you. That AI move plagues online as well. I lose more games online because my stupid AI skates away from the guy camped in front of the net and allows an easy goal. Online is garbage. Every game is rag the puck, because defense has been removed from the game, until AI leaves your guy open, short side cheese, or move to high slot and take the money goal wrister because AI goalies freeze and let thisd float in.
