added my Franchise SuperStar Coach Mode 20 minutes, so in case u over look things in visual and shooting, its puck highlight is off and line changes are manual and shot aims are : aim-assist.

anyways have fun!

No matter how many shots you take, the goalie is going to save them all and you're going to lose. It's definitely a thing, and no one talks about it.

Happened to me again last night, Rangers v.s Devils, shots 32-31 in favour of NJ and Lundqvist got all of them, including desperation saves that he had no business getting to, multiple times.
I may be in the minority, but I actually enjoy those games where you outplay the CPU and the goalie stands on his head and steals it from you. I've played ice hockey in real life over half my life. I've experienced this plenty of times. Plus, how many times do you watch your favorite team in the NHL have one of those type of games? Once or twice a year your team will have that same thing happen. In an 82-game season, I can live with a couple of those video game happenings.

Easy passes, through balls all go to the CPU,keepers making crazy saves etc. Worse still it usually happens against a lowly team that you would normally beat at a canter under normal circumstances..

Absolutely.
I think it’s because the CPU figures your team or players are good for x-amount of wins or points throughout the season.
So if you’re 8-0 and your top player has 20 points, the CPU will make sure the next game is a loss and your top scorer will be shutout.

Believe or not, NHL 20 is the most enjoyable hockey game which I have played ever. After some slider tweaks (and maybe player attributes tweaking too) it's even better. I am strictly offline player. And I have played hockey games from the 80s, since Face Off came out for PCs. I have modded NHL games for PCs too (cyberfaces, rosters, AI etc....) NHL 20...It's definitely better than NHL 19. If not perfect, but in my books it's definetely the best hockey game which I have played. Now I am recreating rosters so that overall ratings of NHL players will vary between 40-94 so I get even more out of the game, those revamped rosters needs of course special sliderset.

I see there's some people on this forum who doesn't like the game mostly because it's EA's product. If you are thinking do I have to buy NHL20, don't put too much value on their words. If you like to play hockey offline, I highly recommend NHL20 to you. Yes it has it's downs too, but "feeling" you get by playing it, is better than any NHL game from the 80s till this day. (Yes, if you was interested, I have played 2K8 and 2K10 too)

This is a good post but I take issue with the idea people who complain about the game only do it because it’s EA and to not take stock in what they say. I’m an old school guy that goes back to the PC days of modding too. I like to read everyone’s take on the game good and bad then play and make my own judgement comparably to those opinions.

I always say there is nothing wrong with liking the game. I have many issues with the game and the direction the series has taken. I have many complaints all legitimate. That said I do agree the offline game plays the best since NHL 14.....so far. I say so far because NHL 19 Beta was fantastic and a few tuners and patches later it was unplayable. My take on NHL 20 is the offline game is pretty good the online game is worse than ever. I fear, as in the past, they will make changes to please the online community and it will destroy the offline game.

The patch and tuner issue is just one legitimate gripe. If you read most complaints from respected longtime players and community members they are complaints about issues plaguing the series for years. Hoping EA addresses these long standing issues rather than add create a mascot, create a team, and arcade gimmick modes is perfectly acceptable and not without merit.

I’m glad people are enjoying it and I may play my first offline season since NHL 14 but it doesn’t mean EAs lack of attention to long standing issues and some lingering poor AI issues is wrong.

Amen! I especially would like to see more back checking from AI and I would like to see goalies (I mean human controlled team goalie) closing the puck more when getting pressure from opposite team players. I would like to get better tools for defense, for example tools for pinning AI forwards more easily on the board, (especially behind the net situations you have no tools to do anything to them. I like to see more player separation (yeah, I could make it myself by tweaking player attributes, and that's exactly what I am going to do...) And roster sharing... Yeah, you know, it could help a lot to have a such tools for making the game play more realistic.

But I enjoy playing the game anyway. It has some issues, but they didn't ruin the game for me.

Re: Impressions a week later since this game has been out?

One of the most idiotic things about this game, and it's a legacy issue, is if one of your penalty killers takes a penalty, it doesn't let you choose which player you want replacing that killer while they're in the box. There should be a pop up initiated when the player takes a penalty and who you want to replace them a la Madden games when your guy is injured and can choose to take a few plays off and return or remove them from the game.

So many times, a defenseman will take a penalty and then the computer trots out a god damned forward to take his spot on the PK. I shouldn't have to pause the game, go change the PKer for one penalty and then have to go and change it back.

Or at least give us a depth chart so we can rank/list our top PK'ers.
And what about PP and PK only having 2 line options? Why not a 3rd?
