Re: PES 2016 Sim Settings

Hey Matt, with defensive line so high for every team, which tactics/formations would we give teams that play really deep with ten men behind the ball?

What about few in attack as a start? A lot of those teams play with just a lone striker, especially against big teams.

I guess we could lower the positions of the team in their formation?

We would have to edit the formations for both the attack tactics, and the defensive tactics. Unless we turn them off and they just play fluid, but it would remove the drama of a team changing to defensive and defending their lead, which I have seen a few times, and it's not exactly like Fifa's park the bus, but the intention is the same, if only the tactics were set up right.

But I'm positive the AI never switches to "custom"? Has anyone seen that?

I think the reason it's been difficult is more so because the defending is less chaotic. They are not over-committing spaces like they do on the higher difficulties. That's my initial impression though.

I played a UCL campaign with Monpellier and I'm currently in 3rd place behind FC Gronigen. Each match has been different, even playing the same teams it's been different. The challenge is definitely there, without all the extra CPU cheating that goes on, on the higher levels.

You guys are doing good work in this thread though. With this and once mods get going, it should provide a good experience.
All I would say you need is the free-side select tool on evo-web by yair. It's super simple, and allows you to switch sides to the CPU during competition (usually this is disabled of course), so you can make the preset tactics very quickly. You'll see how quickly I do it in my video. Less is more!

For teams that play all 10 men, I would actually put the Out to Few. I played with Medium (in) and Few (out) last night on that video, and there was actually MORE defenders than there was with medium. It's interesting how it all works, I think it frees up the players not to be so overcommitted to go defend a spot right after posesession is lost. Instead, they stay in the frame of mind to attack, instead of retreating immediately. This also makes for the CPU to send in crosses earlier than just taking a man on every time. Again, early testing.

As you can see I'm still figuring out the best combo without making it too complicated, especially the console folk since they can't switch sides freely.

Edit, here is the video from Twitch but on YT:

@matt10

*Slow clap*

You sir have happened upon a revelation with playing on the Regular level...At first when I read this, I was thinking...no way will playing on that level bring any sort of challenge...My 'sim'-ego chimed in and put up its nose to such a suggestion...pfff...me...playing on Regular (and not Superstar or Top Player?! Blasphemy!?!

Then I gave it a shot and was humbled...And to see Bayern play with such purpose, ease, and just the overall pace of the match was a thing of beauty...I used SC Corinthian and got my a** handed to me by the score of 3-nil (as expected!)...The pace was not frenetic in any way....I wish I would have twitched the match to show it...

And to think...this is just the demo...I assume the retail version is even more on point!

Speed: -1, Manual passing, and Regular = = > Footie bliss...thus far after a sample size of 1 game... But I do believe that after 1 game, you can really get a feel for the settings....

Good stuff!

Any other opinions on using regular? I'm going to try it later with juve.

Gonna play against Bayern. Feyenoord. AC Milan & Zenit. See how it plays against 4 very different teams.

Re: PES 2016 Sim Settings

Just got a quick game in with -1, regular, manual pass and shot. Then I had in/out set to medium for both teams. Only other thing I changed was on out of possession I did move my wings back just a bit for both teams because on both teams they were kind of hanging out in no mans land on defense (it is only necessary for certain formations).

I was marseille vs lille and it played like a dream. and it was tough! i have had an issue with being able to run down the wing past the midfield defending but damn it was tougher on this difficulty! I had thauvin and ayew (old rosters) so i could get down the wing but then i would get doubled and just give up the ball so it wasn't worth it anymore. I couldn't even get a cross in from it. I lost a tight one 1-0. i did stream it but for some reason twitch didnt archive it.

Let us know how it plays out.

I thought I was crazy a few days ago thinking that Regular was just as much of a challenge (or more of a realistic challenge) than Professional or even Top Player.

I can't remember much about how GKs reacted on Regular vs Top Player. I do remember the CPU sneaking in a lot of through balls. Well, until I learned how to play better defense by mostly controlling a CB or Fullback to cut off their runs. Sometimes the back four goes into airhead mode and let's a striker run uncontested (for a just a quick moment) into the box.

Re: PES 2016 Sim Settings

Eh, Regular is the level you start out at in myClub, and I won my first 3 matches by like 4-5 goals per match. I just run straight through the defense with a single player, then take a wide open shot near the top of the box. It reminds me of FIFA 15 on professional or lower. And if the CPU plays long ball they give it away constantly. But if other people find it enjoyable that's awesome.

I'm mostly struggling with how easy shooting is. With basic or manual I feel like it's too easy. Basic makes the shots inside the box OP, and manual makes the shots outside OP. IMHO.
