Emphasis on "preview" and "whets your appetite", what does that mean... Clearly there's a secondary purpose outside of testing, or at minimum an expectation for us to be fueled by what we experienced.

They should have left that part out, unless this truly is a preview of what's to come.
It means that Konami is trying to "wet your appetite for online play" by letting you experience "network stability upgrades". In previous years, Konami's servers have been garbage and games ending prematurely due to latency and connectivity issues has been a real problem. As the company pivots to more online features (eFootball Co-Op Championship, MyClub, etc.), the stability of the network takes on greater importance as year's go by.

Then why are there gameplay related questions in their survey? If this was solely about networking performance, then they wouldn't be asking for feedback on so many different gameplay elements of the beta.
