Re: fans of underground rap?

Oh man, have ya'll heard the new Murs track "dreadlocks"

I might have to stop listening to underground music man..if all my favorite acts are gonna turn pop I'm gonna just listen to Jazz music and say **** it. I KNEW him signing to Warner Music was a bad ****ing idea.

****!

http://www.stampedemanagement.com/wo...s-mastered.mp3

This is his quote from the new URB Magazine

Quote:
Having toiled in the creatively fertile (though financially erratic) terrain of the United States hip-hop underground as long as he has, Murs is no stranger to the cries of “sellout!” periodically hurled at any rapper/MC who dares to climb a couple rungs of the music-biz ladder.

He’s aware of the situation, and his inspirations haven’t changed. “For all the fans that are gonna hate me [for signing to WB], go check the liner notes to Good Music,” says Murs, referring to his 1999 album. “I said that my goal was to sell 13 million records. And I thought for the longest time it was gonna be me releasing 30 albums and selling 500,000 of each. But now I have the chance to be on MTV, and mother****er, I’m gonna take it. But I’m bringing all of you with me. Everybody who’s supported me for the past 10 years, we are going to MTV. That’s why it’s Murs For President ’cause if I have to play politics with this bull**** industry, I’m going to be the mother****ing president. I’m not gonna be a senator. I’m not gonna be in the House of Representatives."

Oh God, he signed to Warner Bros? That's never a good sign.

One of my all-time Indie bands Rilo Kiley signed with Warner this year too, and their new single makes me want to puke my brains out. **** the mainstream and **** Warner Brothers.

Re: fans of underground rap?

1. That introduction is B-R-U-T-A-L!
2. Who produced this track?
3. I think it could have been a good track if somebody else had produced it - maybe ANT or 9th. Something more R&B/jazz influenced than this stupid Timbaland rip-off ****.
4. It can't be WB's fault. The White Stripes returned to top-form despite signing with them.

Rick Ross produced the track, and it's in Madden 2008. **** I'm gonna throw up, Murs (next to Slug) is my favourite ****ing rapper on the planet.

Re: fans of underground rap?

The production and stupidass chorus is what kills the track instantly for me. I think it could have been a fun Murs track if the production wasn't wack as sh!t. At least we'll always have Breakfast Club.

Wow, MURS is a douche. I'm sorry, I loved him too but his quote about MTV makes me wanna throw up. He basically just said, "I'm selling out, and yall are comin with me. I'm sellin out to MTV and I'm proud dammit. I'm rich bitch."
