He has some songs that you instantly recognize when the beat drops, even if the song is like 20 years old lol.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I quit halfway through The Diary. His first album is just old, might be the oldest non-Rakim project I’ve listened to so I’ll just give that a pass. It’s not even the songs, I like them (Diary of a Madman, a Minute to Pray, Jesse James). Ive gotten used to Never Seen a Man Cry (the Griselda version). Listening to the original is when I bowed out. He’s too cool for me, I could fall asleep to this. I put Wu-Tang on and all is well again. It just felt like a chore.

My main thing with Tupac has always been that I like his material but don’t like his style. This is like what if Tupac didn’t yell. I like Scarface on pretty much every feature I’ve heard him on so eh. I’ll skip to The Fix and see if anything is different there.

Low End Theory came out in 91 so I can't even give him that pass. Maybe I'm just too used to East Coast stuff.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I’m going thru my Cash Money Catalog and started off with Juvie.

Right now, I’d go That G Code > 400 Degreez > Soulja Rags. Production on all of em are

I’m on Lil Wayne(pause)now and starting off with The Block is Hot.

I had never realized until the beat battles and people started talking about what he did how much of the production Manny Fresh was doing for them back in the day. I knew he had done some but didn’t realize he had the label on his back like he did.

Ended up watching the Seen a Man Die music video, and it sounded different so I deleted The Diary and redownloaded it and it sounds much better now, he was too quiet before, like listening to it underwater. Got through it, it’s pretty good but not like Enter the Wu-Tang/RD level to me. I’ll go forward with The Fix at least though. Production wise, kinda reminds me of Outkast’s first album.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

My ear has been all over the place, I’ll go from Never Change to Bill Withers to Miles Davis to Polo G to Coltrane and somehow always end up listening to Mortal Man at the end. 4 days marks 3 years since Damn....

Another Curren$y EP, I want to say his 3rd release of the year. One of the other ones with DJ Fresh has all the instrumentals on it, Curren$y beats are like Egyptian cotton sheets. Ended up downloading a bunch of beat tapes, Madlib, Oddissee, Dilla, Nujabes, so plenty to go through there.

First listen of New Toronto 3 everything sounded good, need to listen again to see what stands out but Tory’s done it again, word to JODYE.
