2K Sports Football finished on this generation of home consoles???

Is ESPN NFL 2K5 is the last 2K Sports Football game for this generation?

Will their next football game be for XBox360 and the PS3?

My guess is no... That there are so many people out there with the current generation that they'll want to get at least one game in next year, or even late this year.

Still... I wonder.

A recent Wall Street Journal alluded to the fact that Take 2 was completely exiting the football genre and focusing on NBA & MLB games. I agree with that. EA has cornered the market and unless Take 2 develops an "alternative" type of game, you probably won't hear from them unless the NFL does not renew the exclusivity contract in 5 years. As for the rumors of a SIM game with NFL Legends, that might fill a niche market but that is about it. The good thing is that Take 2 claims to be supporting ESPN Leagues indefinately, and the XBOX 360 is supposedly backwards compatible. So if people are displeased with Madden 360, at least they can play ESPN on the new console (or the old) for the next year.

VC hasn't given up football and are actually currently working on a new game. I have no idea if it's the Legends game or some other game but it is definitely football and is currently schedule for next year.

It seems to me that the logical thing to do would be to get one more football game out on this generation, and use it to test the market's taste for such a game, before puting all the time and money into next generation.

If they were to put all their focus into next generation, and then have the game bomb, it would be worse than having it bomb on the PS2 and XBox next year. Because I'm guessing a Legends game for this generation would essentially be ESPN NFL 2K5 tweaked a bit, whereas a Legends game for next generation would cost a lot more money to produce and add greater risk to the entire project.

The last official statement from T2/VC which I remember indicated that the former football team works now on other projects, e.g. NBA2k6.

it's a fact just like i said many times before and shawn has said many times before and bk, etc, etc, etc. don't know what's wrong with your "source".

young, some members are working on nba2k6, others are still working on football.
