Anyone play with all sliders zeroed out?

Anyone play with all sliders zeroed out except fumble and fatigue? This would let the player ratings REALLY mean something and differentiate among players. But is the engine sound enough to handle this?

I think this could only be done with major ratings adjustments as proposed by a few here on the boards in order to counteract some out of box gameplay bugs (INTs, super defense, etc.)

Just curious if anyone plays like this with new roster sets. I have been experimenting with historic rosters (re-rated) and it sure looks interesting to say the least...

i think "ZERO sliders" are one of the more popular gameplay tweaks out there

IIRC you can't zero kick power, catching or coverage without suffering some pretty lousy gameplay

Where did the game fall down with zero sliders aside from INTs? Where were the holes?

I keep the coverage slider as far down as possible to keep INTs down, and the coverage can be pretty moronic at times. I also tried pursuit (or whatever it's called) at zero to help open up the special teams returns, and that was pretty bad too: often times on simple run plays defensive players would run right by the ball carrier.

I'm currently playing the opposite way, with all the sliders maxed out... Well, except for coverage and pursuit edit: and tackle (too many INTs and too many super tackles)... And also keep the performace equalizer (I think that's what it's called) OFF. The games are very arcadey and guys seem to really play to their ability, with good backs juking me hard from time to time. I just barely beat the 87 Broncos with the 83 Raiders. Elway was a monster and almost made a great comeback... And again, this is with the performace equalizer OFF.

By the way, in the past I have kept the performance equalizer on, but now I think it's too cheap. Yes, the games are closer, but who's to say a team won't get it's spirit crushed every now and then and get beat handily? Teams don't always equal things out, so I think maybe keeping the performance equalizer off is the way to go... With sliders as high as possible. Though it is of course all a matter of preference.

I currently play with all offensive sliders maxed out and all defensive sliders at zero except Coverage and Pursuit.

Was just curious how ratings affected gameplay or if there were too many holes in the AI to allow for it. Sounds like that may be a true statement.

I also concur with the EQ Off...

^ Yeah sliders seem to be the dominant factor on the way the game plays, with ratings to distinguish each player from one another.

Re: Anyone play with all sliders zeroed out?

So what is the best way to put the sliders for the most realistic gameplay?
