Re: The mysteries of the Fullback

I've only noticed my FB's missing blocks a couple of times throughout a game. I have more of a problem with pulling guards because the D Lineman or LB over the guard who is pulling always seems to bust through and tackle my RB for a loss. I just avoid plays where there is a pulling guard involved.

It won't happen all the time. I love having a guard pull and lead. Just make sure your RB stays parallel to the line until the blocking sets up. Sometimes you get nailed, but when they hit their blocks, you can bust a big run.

Yea i pretty much ONLY use running plays with a pulling guard. Then again i am the redskins and thats what we do. I get VERY good numbers running but i know what defense to look for otherwise i audible.

It is cool seeing John Riggins run the counter tre with Grimm and the "Hogs" leading for him. That is what got me started in roster editing in the first place. I played Warpath's roster and got so excited watching Riggins pancake a guy, I started editng the next day.

And I hate the Redskins

Re: The mysteries of the Fullback

I guess hate is a strong word, but I am a Dolphins fan and the Skins broke my heart in the Super Bowl when I was a kid. Riggins made it look like he was playing a high school team.

That is also why I'm not a 49ers fan either.

I'm not a Cowboys fan either, but I don't need a reason for that one. I always liked Dorsett, Everson Walls and Danny White though. I always thought Emmitt Smith was a product of the system. He was good, but the line was great. Barry was better (and a lot more exciting to watch- I had season tickets many years) and Dickerson was the best in my book.

Re: The mysteries of the Fullback

I use the pulling guard plays some, but it's kind of pointless because the O-linemen are so slow that by the time they pull and get around to make a block, the play is either over, or my HB is sprinting dowfield for the TD.
