Re: Are most Of the Pros geeks to?
Aragorn does have a point. I know many hardcore football fans who love Madden. It is unfair to say "If you don't like MY favorite game, you must not know football". That's simply not true. Feels good to say it but it's an unfair generalization.
The truth is that Madden is fun, and initially ESPN is not. ESPECIALLY when your used to the footloose Madden style of gameplay. A game cannot be fun if you are going through the frustrating process of getting comfortable playing it. ESPN takes time to get used to before its comfortable.
If you're used to that silly-*** Madden spin move, you know when to use it and where to use it. The way the 2K spin is implemented is TOTALLY different. How many times will a Madden fan get dropped for a loss because the spin is different. A bunch. Thats not fun...
Is Madden full of flaws?..check. Horrendous cartoony graphics?...check. Unrealistic in a number of ways?....check.
FUN?...Check.
You cannot underestimate the fun factor. WallyHopp said it best, EA gives you 50 bucks worth of fun, bottom line.
2K fans are the next evolution of football gamers. Like those who have seen the Matrix and refuse to accept it. Its hard not to root for a company has the balls to try to get better every year.
Real football players don't give a shyt about realism.
THEY ALREADY LIVE THE GAME!!! Madden, ESPN, Fever, Gameday...Their ALL unrealistic compared to real life. ESPN's realism wouldn't impress your average NFL player. They want down-time FUN and Madden provides that along with a decent football experience.
