Wide Screen on a regular TV?

I'm sure it's not going to be available for 2k4, but is it possible to have game developers make it an option for a game to be played in Widescreen on a regular TV? It would be awesome to be able to see the whole field and play as a corner without having to zoom the camera all the way out. Couldn't they just put black bars at the bottom and top like movies do with DVDs? I don't know anything about programing but it seems like this wouldn't be too hard to do, but would be an awesome feature for future games.

They have it in Madden and in NCAA where you can do that.

I'm not positive, but isn't there an option to do this from the XBOX start-up screen (turn on the XBOX with no disk).

I played last years Madden in widescreen mode on a regular TV but didn't like having the black bars. You could see more of the field but the letters etc didn't look right.

Re: Wide Screen on a regular TV?

WoW that's awesome I wish I would have figured that out earlier about Madden, it would have been awesome to be able to play as a corner in my franchise. Does anyone know if 2k4 might allow this also, it didn't work for 2k3 and didn't work in the demo for 2k4 so I'm not sure if I should get my hopes up.

Absolutely a great feature that EA includes, hopefully Sega will add it soon.

Re: Wide Screen on a regular TV?

Try setting your xbox to wide screen mode and see if that helps with 2k3.

Actually the Gamecube version of 2K3 lets you choose widescreen in the game options. I don't remember seeing it in the Xbox options though. I think You have to press a button when you first turn it on or something like that to get the widescreen option to turn on in the Xbox version.
