for 2k3 ... how much better is the 780 for XBOX than the 480 for PS2. I've been told that on an HDTV there is not much difference.

I think you mean 720p, and there is a good difference between that and 480p.

well, I have an HDTV, 5.1 digi, an XBOX & a PS2.. I plan on buying ESPN on the 2nd & can't figure out which platform to go with. The reason i have not gone with XBOX all the way is because I don't like their controller for sports games. Is the difference sooo astounding that I should do the XBOX switch?

I played all last year with the PS2 version in the 480p Hd mode and was thrilled with the difference from standard TV. I would go right out and buy XBOX if I knew I could swap right back, but this year it is not the case.

Actually, the thread was more about choosing another football game if one's online experience is already fulfilled.

I thought I would just add that bit of info for people who may only purchase ESPN.

you can count on espn's franchise mode beating madden's owner's mode

other than the owner's mode section of madden's franchise mode, there isn't that much new about it except for the training camp...in espn, you will see a new email system letting you know about future games, weekly wrapups with chris berman - nfl primetime style, and you'll have a crib to go back to between games

ask anyone that has played both franchise modes, which i have, and they'll tell you that you can count on espn having a much deeper mode than madden...it always does and looks to do a ton extra this year on top of what already was much deeper than madden

of course, that's my opinion but after playing madden for the last week or so and playing the 2k series since it came out, i can tell you that VC always comes up with great in-depth things for the franchise mode
