Re: Official Ol\' School Gamers Thread

My first Fball game was on Atari...not so good.
The Intellivision version was sweet though!

this was around 1982?

didn't play again till Tecmo bowl for the NES and I've tried all incarnations of most console games that I could get my hands on since.

I even bought a 3DO!! (used) Because "John Madden Football" (no NFL license) had photo-realistic players.

has to be THE WORST FOOTBALL GAME EVER MADE.

I loved Sega's Joe Montana Sports Talk '93-94 though!!

34-year-old here.

Did any of you guys ever play XOR's NFL Challenge on the PC? It came out back in the mid-80s (1985, I'm pretty sure). It had animated X's and O's running the plays and generated some incredibly realistic stats. I still play it from time to time and am amazed at its ability to generate realistic stats in games. A classic.

37 here, still a kid at heart...

DirtyDozen, I definitely remember XOR's! We used to have tournaments in my office

XOR was pretty damn cool for the time.....

Ahh, Joe Montana Sports Talk. The game was decent, but the selling point was that it had commentary. It sounded sooo robotic. It was the prototype for future robotic sounding anouncers like Pat Summerall and John Madden. I used to like this football game and I forget the name. You were able to take the defensive man and go through one side of the TV screen and come up right behind the quarterback. Who remembers Head to Head Football? (hand held game). Or Mattell's football 2 (hand held). I remember Atari Football (Atari 2600 and 5200), 10 yd fight, tecmo bowl, NES nfl football, John Elway football, Mike Ditka Power Football. I think I have played them all, except for PC games. Can't see me ever stopping. Unless crippling arthritis sets in. I'll still find a way though.

Intellivision Football was one of my favorites.

What about the game at the arcade with X's and O's, you had to use that roller ball to move the players.

INtellivision football was awesome! Also like 10yd fight for C64 and REALLY loved TV Sports football for the Amiga....oh and I'm 33! Oh and who can forget Front Page Sports football? I remember 'exporting' my team and importing it into my friends computer and we played a classic shootout with our own teams and playbooks, and LOTS of beer! I remember you could also edit your uniforms. That series was ahead of its time.
