Tricky thing those player ratings for some strange reason they're never quite what we expect them to be and this topic comes up almost every season without fail which is why I think guys who do their homework seem to create a better roster than the ones repesented the game.
Thing is no matter how you adjust them they've got to fit the games core code and by fit,I mean view it like fitting a square peg in a round hole if the attributes are altered, enhanced or changed in anyway that could have an adverse affect on the games intentional core program and the core program never deveates from it instruction as far as its execution of them goes simular to Maddens suspicious and rumored "Hard Code".
I suspect that you could alter those rating attributes anyway you'd want to as long as they're realistic enough to "fit" the games code,in some ratings they seem unrealistic I mean what is the use adjusting or altering something if you're at or close to a crazy number like 98 speed thats not realistic for any player its almost perfect and in most cases you can't improve on it,but you can find a relistic medium and base off of it.
The gameplay should have a very adverse effect also such as in weather, field conditions, players condition, fatigue factors, conditions after big hits as in players durability and there could be other factors I'm missing here.
As far as being player specific thats nothing new gamers have know for years that those ratings were off thats why some guys do their own rosters based on realistic data provided through stat and sport sites and I like the fact they're rated like that, so you see a QB's rating at speed is something you'd compare to other QB's at the position, but just the thought of having such a outragous rating is a joke in itself 98 is just too fast for any player in cyber space a computer simulator or real life its just not realistic. there are too many other game senerios that could present themselves, I mean you can run only so fast right? Just my .02 cents worth.
