Re: QB Spy defensive option
Won't help him much, he's already doing it properly.
As near as I can tell, the move *should* work at any time, but doesn't. Either that, or the 6 or 7 times I actually went to use it, my LB magically chased McNabb on his own (I played a lot of zones anyway). He shifted a bit over in his zone, but didn't completely abandon it to shadow McNabb's movement (which is what a spy should do). After testing it more this afternoon, I wouldn't completely disbelieve somebody saying it was pure luck. If 5,000 people are having trouble getting a spy to work, and I got it to work (I thought) 6 times, who's more than likely not seeing things clearly?
Chances are it was pure luck, my LB made the play because McNabb ran somewhere near his zone, and not because of a spy working. I've hit the audible time and time again, and it doesn't seem to radically affect the LB's zone. I'm starting to agree with everybody else...that it's not WHAT play you choose. It's just that it doesn't work at all. Which really sucks, considering how fast QB's are across the board this year.
