HURRICANES BEAT WILCATS TO WIN TITLE!!!

The 2025 12 team college playoffs will be something people talk about for years to come.

For some it will be remembering Boise State's opening round win over Florida State.

For others it will be #1 Ohio State beating #9 Michigan for a 3rd time this season in Round 2 to Advance to the Semi Finals.

For others it will be QB Will Howard and the Buckeyes falling to his former team K-State (34-24) in the Semi Finals as KSU heads to the Finale.

For others it will be #7 Miami beating SEC powerhouses Texas A&M and Oklahoma on their way to the Semi's and for others it will be Notre Dame beating Georgia and Clemson on their own way to the Semi's before falling to the Hurricanes (24-21)

For K-State the Wildcats Offense was unstoppable in Rounds 2 and 3 averaging 37 PPG, but the Hurricanes smothering Defense (only gave 7 points to Oklahoma) stepped up huge again holding KSU to just 13 points in the (21-13) victory.

Well Howard's move from K-State to Ohio State backfired , he still came out a winner as he receives the 2025 Heisman Award,, with 4132 yds passing with 40 TD's and 10 INT, well also rushing for 559 yds and 6 TD.

Howard wasn't the only QB transfer to leave his school and find success elsewhere.

KJ Jefferson left Arkansas after 5 seasons (3 as the starter) to finish his career at UCF and he did it in a big way as he is named the College Footballs Player of the Year. Jefferson finished with 4166 yds passing with 41 TD and 11 INT, well also rushing for 798 yds and 9 TD.

OFF-SEASON STORY'S

COACH D FINSHES #2 IN COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD

Despite only leading his team to the 2nd Round of the playoffs, Coach Spencer Danielson's leadership and abilities were rewarded as he finishes #2 beyond Miami's Mario Cristobal who led the Hurricanes

OC RYNE SCOTT TURNS DOWN MULTIPLE OFFERSE AND WILL RETURN TO BSU FOR YEAR 2.

Coach Danielson's wasn't the only BSU coach that opposing opponents and schools gave credit for the Broncos success in 2025.

Offensive Coordinator Ryne Scott turned down Head Coaching job offers from Memphis and Western Kentucky as well as OC positions to Stanford.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"I think every non-head football coach in the nation dreams of one day of being the guy in charge, but for me I know that day will come and I don't want to just jump at the first offer I get. I believe Coach D and I have a good thing going and I got a great QB with still potentially 3 more years of record breaking opportunities. We started something great this year and I want to see it continue,"
JEANTY NOT DONE YET!!

Last year, Aston Jeanty said he wanted to stay a Bronco and help finish what he started. Today he continued that stance as he turns down a chance at a projected 2nd Round Draft selection to return to Boise State for his Senior season.

Jeanty's season was somewhat overshadowed by QB Malachi's record breaking year, but despite that he still managed to surpass 1000 yds finishing with 231 carries for 1133 yds and 10 TD. He also added 347 yds and 1 TD through the air on 32 receptions.

DUBAR PULLS A REVERSAL AS HE TOO WILL STAY

Rumors all season were backup RB Jambres Dubar was unhappy with the Broncos move to a move pass heavy offense and it was said Dubar was the Broncos #1 candidate to hit the transfer portal, but the Sophomore has announced that he is returning for another season of backing up and joining Jeanty in the BSU backfield. Dubar finished the year with 47 carries for 189 yds and 7 TD well also adding 9 rec for 52 yds and 1TD

BSU FINISHES WITH (2) 1000 YD RECEIVERS

SR Latreell Caples finished with a team leading 1243 yds and school record 18 TD's on 75 receptions but BSU fan's and Coach Scott are most excited about the potential of 6'5 Prince Strachan.

The Sophomore originally from the Bahamas, had a breakout season with a team high 77 receptions for 1025 yds and 9 TD's.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"The fact that Prince was able to put up those kind of #'s with the talented core we had just shows how good he is. Not only did he share catches with Caples, but we also had Austin Bolt (58 rec 904 yds 6 TD), Cam Camper (25 rec 373 yds 7 TD) and TE Matt Lauter (52 rec 527 yds 7 TD)."
BSU SAYS GOODBYE TO 20 SENIORS

Caples, Bolt and Camper are gone leaving a huge shoes to fill in the receiving room with a combined 158 receptions 2504 yds and and 31 TD's.

BSU also says goodbye to starting LG Ben Dooley but will return the other 4 starters including LT K Casey who played 961 snaps and RT D Metoyer who played 997.

The Bronco Secondary takes some major hit's with 5 of the Top-6 DB's graduating.

CB A'Marion McCoy (5 INT) and FS Rodney Robinson (3 INT) both graduating, along with FS S. Oladipo (65 Tackles, 6 TFL) #3 CB M. Reed (only 11 catches allowed) and starting SS Alexander Teubner (55 Tackles, 2 INT)

The D-Line also lost some impact players as DE Ahmed Hassanien leaves after a (41 Tackle, 10 TFL, 5.0 sack season that helped him get selcted in the 5th round of the draft and DT Herbert Gums who led the Broncos with 15 TFL and a team high 6.5 sacks.

BSU also says goodbye to PK Jonah Delmas who connected on 15/18 FG's (83%) and 62/63 XP

BRONCOS HISTORIC SEASON PAYS OFF!!!

Last season Coach Spencer Danielson and his staff recruited a class of 21 players including 5* Transfer QB Malachi Nelson and 4* LB Clay Martineau that ranked #1 in the MWC and #64 in the nation ahead of schools like Washington State (65), Oregon State (66) Colorado (68 and UCLA (70) and was the 3rd highest class out of schools not in Power 5 conferences (USF was #57 and Tulsa was #61).

In-Season recruiting started out slow as the Broncos picked up just 5 early commitments.

3* WR Terron Sermon (66 Overall), 3* RB Angelo Upshaw (67 Overall), 3* TE/FB Athlete Kolby Mack (62 Overall), 3* LT Pat Witzmann (67 Overall) and 3* QB Kenan Cox (66 Overall).

Coach D and his staff however blew those #'s out of the water with the signing 18 more players (23 total) including a record (6)-4* Recruits. Not only did the class rank #1 in the MWC (202.75 PTS, San Jose was 2nd with 10-3* that got them 156 PTS). The Broncos Class came in Ranked #24 in the Nation, as they beat out schools like Oklahoma (#25) Ole Miss (#26) UCLA (#27) Utah (28) UCF (29), TCU (30) and Colorado (39) as well as Kansas State who finished with the #32 Class.

Head lining the 2025 class is Boise State's future #1 RB , a pair of 0-Linemen a potential instant starter at DT and a very talented CB and TE all with 4* rankings.

Montrell Zuber(75 Overall) comes from Carmel Indiana and is listed at 5'11 209lbs . With Aston Jeanty and Jambres Dubar both returning,

Coach Scott
Quote:
" Zubar will most likely red**** this season giving him a shot as a 3 year start just Dubar stick around for his Senior season"
Zuber will run behind 2 future starters on the O-Line in Kemani Clausen (74 Overall) and Raekwon Tackett (75 Overall)

6'5 305lbs Clausen listed at RG is from Jal New Mexico.

6'4 293 lbs Tackett listed at RT is from Hesperia CA.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"Clausen has the best shot at starting Day 1, with the graduation of our starting LG, but we have alot of depth at the guard position so both players could potentially redshirt giving them 4 full seasons as starters together"
Carlos Mack (72 Overall) comes in listed at 6'5 247 lbs from Merrillville Indiana.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"Mack is the perfect replacement for Matt Lauter, so we will throw a redshirt on him, with Lauter returning for his Senior year. Mack will then compete with #2 TE RS JR Austin Terry and #3 TE RS JR Jedrick Sumpter for the #1 spot next year. Best case, he is a 4 year starter, worst case he sits for a year as behind those guy's and gives us 3 solid years as a starter"

DT David Barnhardt (76 Overall) is listed at 6'1 319lbs and is from Hopkinsville Kentucky. Ranked as the #6 DT in this years class, Barnhardt appears to be ready to start Day 1.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"Honestly I don't have much to do with the Defense, but this kid looks like a beast and I believe is already out most talented player at DT"
Gill Parris (74 Overall) is listed at 6'0 186lbs and is from Michigan City Indiana.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"Again I don't have much to say with the Defense but with the graduation of 2 of our Top-3 corners from last year, Parris will have a shot at earning a starting spot this year with the other DB recruits we brought in"
Speaking off other Recruits. BSU signed 2 transfers out of the Portal.

JR CB Keany Parks (73 Overall) played last season for Wyoming well RS SO DE Karter Menz (72 Overall) played at San Jose State.

Coach Scott
Quote:
"Both players are very familar with other MWC opponents and both players coming in highly touted (better ratings then guy's who were projected to have to start), so I have been told both could be instant starters"
BSU also signed on Defense 3* DT Jermaine Casey (65 Overall), 3* MLB Courtney Mewhort (67 Overall) 3*CB Jamie Cherry (67 Overall) and 3* PK Juan Proctor (70 Overall).

On Offense BSU added another trio of 3* Offensive lineman as well as a tri of WR's

RG Cliff Peterson (65 Overall), C Dominick Kalis (69 Overall) and Clyde Eakin (65 Overall) will all provide depth this season with Kalis potentially next year's starting center.

3* Anthony Dimarco (67 Overall) is listed at 6'4 185 lbs and is from Houston Texas.

3* Brian Cordero (66 Overall) is also listed at 6'4 but 196lbs and is from McKinney Texas

3* Ronald Lincoln (66 Overall) is again another big one at 6'4 206lbs and also is from Argyle Texas

Coach Scott
Quote:
"We graduated 3 of our Top 4 WR's last year. We have RS SR Chase Penry (71 Overall) currently slated as our #2 behind Prince Strachan, but these 3 along with Terron Sermon (66 Overall) all have a solid shot at competing for the #3-#5 WR spots on our team along with RS Tyshawn Liggins (64 Overall) and SO Cameron Bates (62 Overall), however at this point Bates will most likely just stick as our #1 KR and PR"

Re: The Making of a Legend. The Career of Coach Scott CF25

What a first season for Coach Scott with Boise State! So many thrillers where Scott's offense answered the call time and time again. That win against Nevada really set the table for the run to the CFP, and with 50 touchdowns on the season, Nelson should be in Heisman conversation heading into 2025.

I definitely support bringing the Pac-12 back if you were to do that. To be quite honest, the extreme lack of regionalization (i.e. Oregon/UCLA/USC/Washington now in the Big Ten) has really diminished my interest in college football, much more so than any other new change in the last 20+ years. Killing the Pac-12 is the saddest move of them all, and I know restoring it would be one of the first moves I'd make if I get the new game.

Really looking forward to how long Coach Scott remains as Boise OC, and if he's just waiting for the HC job to open up or if he'll go elsewhere as a Power 4 OC or small-school HC first. He definitely won't be short for offers after this coming season with all that talent returning and the Top 25 class coming in.

Very fun season for sure... I feel like not playing Defense probably led to several of those OT games and games not decided until the 4th. Really my only big blowout of the the season was my very first game vs Georgia Southern.

Nelson has been great.. Honestly the best BSU QB I have used since Kellen Moore that is a real life recruit. I have had some pretty stellar QB's in the past on NCCA14 though that I recruited. To be honest I hadn't really been paying that much attention to his seasons stats and the fact he could break some school records until about 10 weeks in. The fact he was playing so well led to Maddux Madsen (backup) seeing zero action past Week 1, and I was a little worried he would transfer out, but I am glad he stayed so I have a pretty solid #2 should a injury happen.

It will be interesting to see what I do with the offense this season, though because with the bulk of my WR's gone and the fact Jeanty came back for his Senior year, I really think I want to focus more on my run game. Nelson has some wheels (88 speed) but ratings wise, Maddux and even Annett (3rd string) are considered to be the better runners of the trio.

I got to be completely honest when the Pac-12 broke up, I was extremely disappointed. I am a Westcoast guy and have been to games to watch Washington both home and away, Washington State both home and away and Oregon and Oregon State both when they played Boise State on the road.
I have also been to a game in Utah watching the Utes play BYU.

So brining the Pac-10/12/16 back is a must for me. I have literally been taking like 3 days to decide what to do. Part of me also doens't want to make the MWC a nothing conference so taking BSU, Fresno State, San Diego State isn't the answer either, but part of me also wants to see what I could do with BSU having to play against Oregon/Oregon State/Washington/Washington State, Utah, BYU every year too.

I think I have decided and will probably get the new conferences posted tonight.

As far as Coach Scott goes, I am probably going to promote him to a OC/Assistant Head Coach and play some defense this season well at BSU and then decide if I want to either A) stick it out until Nelson leaves (whether its a transfer, NFL or graduation) or B) take a job next year as a HC at a school and start the rebuild process of turning that school into the next BSU.

I have a pretty short list of small schools like UTSA or Sam Houston (potentially moving them to the Big 12 down the road) or schools I have done in the past like Texas State or Georgia State and going SEC. Or I maybe someone like FIU or FAU and trying to compete with FSU, Florida, Miami, UCF year in and year out.

A nice side effect I've noticed of bringing back the Pac-12 is that it helps to fix a bit of the wonky (at times) CFP and ranking. The top-25 still gets weird, but once I brought back the Pac-12, the CFP logic magically got *way* better.

I'm in year-2 of my dynasty (with Pac-12) and here are the seedings:
1. Bama - 10-2
2. BC - 11-2
3, OSU - 10-2
4. Texas Tech - 11-2
5. UGA - 10-3
6. NC State 8-4
7. Washington 12-1
8. Texas Tech - 12-1
9 - Okie State - 9-4
10. Oregon- 10-2
11. TAMU - 8-4
12. Va Tech 8-5

There's some quibbles in seeding probably, but that's 11 schools from the power conferences, no UAB's or weird teams getting a 3 seed, either. I did it just because I like the Pac-12 but the unintended logic has been awesome too. Noticed it both years.

So I saved at conference changes, made my changes and went ahead and simmed the entire Year 2.

I moved BSU and Fresno to the Pac-12 now 14, along with thel Pac-12 minus Colorado I left in the Big 12 and also brought in BYU.

I moved alot of other teams, Notre Dame to the Big Ten, Nebraska, Oklahoma , Texas and Texas A&M back to the Big 12, FSU, Miami, GT went to the SEC, ACC added Rutgers, Maryland, West Virginia, USF, UCF and Navy.

American, CUSA,, and Sun Belt had major changes. ect..

Anyways Appalachian State was head to the playoffs wiith 1 loss from the American but loss to Southern Miss in the Conferece Championship, so they fell out as the #12 seed.

Texas State won CUSA with a 9-4 record , so they had no chance. Akron was also 9-4 and won the Mac, UNLV won the MWC going 10-3 beating New Mexico who also went 10-3 so they also were out.

The seeds looked like this

#1 Oregon (12-1) won the Pac 12/14 beating Arizona
#2 Alabama (11-2 won the SEC (beat Georgia)
#3 Syracuse (12-1) won the ACC beating Virginia Tech
#4 Houston (10-2) won the Big 12 beating Nebraska
#5 Nebraska (10-3) lost to Houston Big 12 Title game
#6 Florida (10-2) #3 SEC team
#7 USC (10-2) #3 Pac-12 team
#8 Michigan (11-1) didn't even play in Big Ten title game lost to OSU in Week 14
#9 Georgia (10-3) lost to Alabama SEC Title game
#10 K-State (9-3) #3 team from the Big 12
#11 Penn State (10-2) #3 team in the Big Ten
#12 Ohio State (10-3) won the Big Ten over Notre Dame.

Notre Dame finished 9-4 with the loss in the Big Ten title game

Honestly the teams the made the playoffs were probably the right choices, like you said in yours, the seedings seem a little wonky though.

My Pac-12/14 looked like this

Oregon (12-1) *Champs
Arizona State (9-4) but 7-1 in Confernce, lost to Oregon in Championship
USC (10-2) (6-2)
Cal (8-4) (6-2)
BYU (8-4) (6-2)
Utah (8-4) (5-3)
Stanford (6-6) (4-4)
Washington (5-6) (3-5)
Oregon State (4-8) (3-5)
UCLA (4-8) (3-5)
Washington State (5-7) (2-6)
Fresno State (2-10) (1-7)

Boise State finished 4-8 Overall, with non conference loss's to Nevada and #11 Notre Dame as well as UTSA on the road and beat UCF on the road..

Went 3-5 in Pac-12 beating ASU, Washington State and Oregon State

Lost to Washington by 1, BYU by 2, Oregon by 10, Utah by 12 and Arizona by 11.

Based off that simulation I am pretty happy with how the playoffs turned out, but not so happy with BSU and Fresno State performance in the Pac-12, but that's life. They won't be powerhouse programs any more and every week will be a battle to win and probably the only way to make the playoffs is some how pulling off a 10-11 win 1-2 loss season every year..
