2035 OHIO STATE MEDIA GUIDE
2035 expectations are high for the Ohio State Buckeyes and for good reason.. OSU will start the year ranked #1 in the country and return key players from last year's that finished 13-1 losing to Alabama in the 2nd Round of the CFP after a 13-0 season that including a Big Ten Championship.
For Coach Miller it will be Year 1 of a new 5 year contract after going 40-5 in his first 3 seasons in Columbus. Despite multiple offers that included Georgia, Texas and USC, Miller is committed to the long term with the Buckeyes as he looks to cement his name in the record books among the coaching legends of the past.
TEAM SCHEDULE
This year the Big Ten schedule will feature 9 Conference games and much to the surprise of Miller and the Buckeyes, for a 2nd straight year their biggest rival is not on the schedule, as Ohio State will close out the season in Week 13 @ Oregon.
Miller With a extra non-conference game, Coach Miller made it a point to try and add 2 Texas schools to the schedule playing 1 at home in the "Shoe" well playing the other on the road.
Miller
Week 1 vs Akron
Week 2 vs #19 TCU
Week 3 @ #16 TTU
Week 4 vs Nebraska
Week 5 "Bye"
Week 6 vs Minnesota
Week 7 @ USC
Week 8 @ #6 Washington
Week 9 vs #11 Purdue
Week 10 vs #4 Notre Dame
Week 11 vs Pitt "Senior Day"
Week 12 @ #13 Penn State
Week 13 @ Oregon
*I completely forgot about putting Illinois on the schedule as a non-conference opponent. They will be back next year probably as my Week 1 opponent every year if possible. I do really hope we get Michigan back on the schedule. I honestly might make Divisions just to be sure to play them and Cincinnati every year..
THE ROSTER
(R)=player is Redshirting
(T)=player is a True Freshman active
(RS)=Player is a Redshirt Freshman who was inactive last year
QB
SO Nick De La Rosa (88)
RS JR Abdul Diabate (88)
RS SO Demarco Killings (82)
(R) FR Frederick Clemons (78)
(R) FR Julius Breida (77)
De La Rosa returns as the starter after throwing for 3272 yds with 33 TD and 24 INT as a True Freshman.. The leash will be short though this season as Diabate has proven he can be effective when given a chance.
Diabate has complete 28/45 pass's for 482 yds with 8 TD and 1 INT over the past 2 seasons as the backup. The former 3* from Carolloton Ohio has closed the gap and will see more PT this season especially in Week 1 against the Zips.
Killings returns as the team's #3 well Clemons and Breida will both redshirt this season.
RB/FB
RS JR Frederick Tam (88)
JR Cameron McCracken (87)
RS FR Viliami Te'o (86)
RS SO Ja'Quan Britton (81)
(R) FR Charlie Emery (79)
(R) FR Andy Bortles (76)
(R) FR Robert Rourke (76)
RS SO Kalen Tabor (81)
RS FR Lee Dubois (80)
Gone is Dave Jones and his almost 2000 yds rushing, but the good news is this unit is loaded with talent.
Tam was voted a Offense Captain by the team after rushing for 711 yds last season and scoring a school record 24 TD's. He will team up with former 5* Cameron McCracken (789 yds 3 TD) to give the Buckeyes a solid 1-2 punch.
RS FR V. Te'o (Former 5*) and J. Britton both provide home run type speed as well and will likely factor into the return game as well fight for that #3 spot that McCracken held last year that still managed to produce over 700 yds.
(R) FR Charlie Emery was actually recruited as a WR but moves to RB. He will redshirt this season along with 4* Recruits A. Bortles and R. Rourke but Miller has built enough depth here he shouldn't be worried if Tam or McCracken or both leave a year early for the NFL.
Former TE Kalen Tabor moved to FB last year and started all 14 games paving the way for the Buckeyes to rush for over 4000 yds as a team. Former 5* Recruit Lee Dubois moves from RB to FB and will back him up as well as be the primary backup to Tam in the Power RB role.
WR/TE
RS JR Ezekiel Tandy (92)
RS JR Nick Tull (81)
RS SO Gabe Cobb (85)
RS SO D'Angelo Lowe (85)
RS FR Khalid Ahlers (81)
RS SO Manny Trueblood (80)
RS FR Orlando Riggs (80)
RS SO Greg Lanier (76)
(R) FR Cam Spain (79)
(R) FR Nate Pettis (74)
Everyone is excited to see what a full year of E. Tandy could look like.. He will be the Buckeyes #1 well Nick Tull will be the #2 for the 2nd year in a row Tull has average close to 1000 yds over his 2 seasons with 6 TD's and has proven to be a reliable player who can stretch the field averaging (19.1 per catch).
This unit is so talented we will probably see Cobb and Lowe sharing the 3/4 role well Ahlers,Riggs,Trueblood and Lanier will see time at the #5...
JR Joe Trejo (90)
RS SR Caesar Bourgeois (81)
JR Kaleb Poole (81)
RS SO Gabe Harper (76)
(R) FR Baraka Cobbs (73)
C. Bourgeois has been the starter the past 2 seasons but his biggest strength is blocking and the run game (18 rec 244 yds 5 TD) so enter Tulsa transfer Joe Trejo who had 33 rec for 489 yds last year for the Golden Hurricanes.
Poole and Harper are also both receiving threats, so we could see Miller add in a few more 3 TE sets this year to the Buckeyes Offense..

*DT RS FR Clyde Talbot (88)
DT RS JR Gregory Carmichael (87)
DT RS SR Ethan Sahara (83)
DT RS FR Malcolm Shaw (77)
DT (R) JR Cole Small (83)
Ezukanma is the Bucks best pass rusher on the line but only recorded 9.5 sacks last season.. Miller will need him to step up for someone to step up if the Buckeyes are going to challenge for another Big Ten title and a deep run in the playoffs. Former 4* C. Talbot had a great spring (jumped 8 points) and secured the starting spot at DT, as Ohio State is rumored to be switching to a 3-3-5 Defense this year as well as adding some 3-4 formations. If OSU does run a 4 man front, SR E. Sahara and Syracuse transfer G. Carmichael will see some action. Sahara did post 6 sacks last year so if Talbot doesn't provide something he could move back into the starting lineup.
LB
*OLB RS SR John Perez (93)
OLB RS JR Raekwon Selvia (74)
OLB (R) FR Rodney Newcombe (78)
* MLB RS SR Jose Giguere (86)

*OLB RS SO Eric Clemens (88)
OLB RS SR Ben DeLuca (85)
OLB RS JR Stan Hoffman (82)
OLB RS SO Phill Rossi (82)
Perez is a 4 year starter who currently holds the record for career sacks at OSU with 34.5 sacks over 3 seasons, including a career high 13 last season. Former 5* Eric Clemens was the backup at MLB last year but moves to the outside as Miller looks to get him more PT.. He has 16 career tackles. Starting MLB Jose Giguere posted 66 tackles and had 3 INT last year.. He joins Perez as one of the Defensive captains this season.
DB
*CB RS SR Frank Pounds (87)
*CB RS SR Nick Costanzo (89)
CB RS SR Jason Bulgara (89)
CB RS SR Xavier Michel (81)
CB (R) FR Onaje Onquasor (79)
CB (R) FR Eli Grimes (75)

FS (R) FR Max Michaud (79)
FS (R) FR Trevon Burfict (76)
*SS JR Greg Robinson (88)
SS RS JR Paul Schofield (84)
SS RS SR Paul Barnhardt (82)
Pounds led the team with 6 INT's last year and has recorded 10 over the past 3 seasons. Costanzo is a 3 year starter but has recorded just 5 career INT's.. but he also has only allowed 18 catches over 3 years showcasing QB's just don't like to throw his way. Bulgara will play some Dime back but his main role is Special teams where he showcases his 99 speed.
Shaq Booker joins Ronnie Darilek in the starting lineup after starting for 3 years at Marshall.. Darilek missed 6 weeks last year but still managed 34 tackles 4 TFL, 4.5 sacks and 2 INT and was actually in the voting for the "Best DB" in the nation at the end of the season.
Robinson returns for his 3rd season as the Buckeyes starter at SS. The former 5* is the 3rd Defensive Captain and posted 61 Tackles last year with 3 INT..
ST
PK SO Lamar Dugans (75)
P RS SR Isaiah Mangen (79)
KR- D. Lowe, O. Riggs
PR- J. Bulgara
Dugans made 10/14 FG's last season including a long of 54 yds. He was 85/86 on XPT.. Mangen has a career avg of 40.0 yds with a Net Avg of 36.2
Lowe has a kickoff return for a touchdowns (96 yds) and averaged 26.8 last year on 12 returns. He also has a Punt return for a TD (86 yds) averaging 14.8 yds on 9 returns.
Riggs buried on the depth chart at WR will try and make a impact as the other KR guy but OSU is loaded with speed.
Bulaga had 52
PR for 518 yds including a 65 yd return for a TD..
RECRUITING
Ohio Stat has a full 85 man roster for the first time since Coach Miller's arrival. The roster has 17 Seniors, 18 Juniors, 19 Soph's and a combo of 31 Freshman (Redshirted and Redshirting).
With several Juniors and even Redshirt Sophomore's capable of turning pro early, Miller and the staff plan on recruiting 20 scholarships this season with 15-17 targeted in-season and the other 3-5 targeted via the off-season/portal.
