Re: ESPN Presents: Matt10's BYU Cougars
Air Force Super Tandem: RB Chris Hall and QB Shaun Carney.
AIR FORCE STEAM ROLL BYU
HALL AND CARNEY TOO MUCH
Reflection
Overland Park,KS (AP) -- "Good Gawd, another completion!!??"
Matt10 couldn't believe how terrible his defense was playing.
"I can't believe how terrible my defense is playing!"
It was as if the Air Force QB was unstoppable from the get go, whenever there was a chance for a sack - he'd find someone to dish it out to; Matt10, as usual, references the sliders - which this time are completely different.
"I couldn't figure out my own, so I've been playing with some from a guy on OS named Justin. These play very challenging and very fun, it seems to put the interceptions at a more realistic feel and my offense actually looks decent on some plays. I think if I ran more, I could've gotten Manase over 100 yards - but thanks to Corso...he got 8 carries."
As for a response to losing to Air Force, Matt10 believed they are the team to beat, and is not going to be surprised if they perform some serious upsets this season.
"They've got alot going for them - it's scary how in-sync they were. That running back Chad Hall is a beast."
Game Recap
Provo, UT (AP) -- The Cougars would lose their second home game, first MWC conference game, in disgusting fashion, 7-37 to the Air Force Falcons, Saturday evening.
For the first time this season, the Cougars gave up over 100 yards rushing, something that was bound to happen - it is no surprised it happened against sophomore Chad Hall, who is not just any running back.
Hall rushed for over 145 yards, averaging 5.5 yards a carry, and scored two touchdowns. One of Hall's more spectacular touchdown runs occured in the second quarter - the touchdown run was hailed as the Pontiac's game changing performance.
Hall's partner in crime, senior quarterback Shaun Carney, went 14-20, throwing for 204 yards, a touchdown, a rushing touchdown and an interception. Carney's consistent play was too much for the Cougar defense, a defense that is currently struggling in the lower pits of the Mountain West Conference.
Carney's counterpart, sophomore Brendan Gasksins showed some promise as he became the first quarterback this season to throw a touchdown pass for the Cougars. The touchdown would be the only time the Cougars would lead, Gaskins would somehow throw the ball to sophomore WR Bryce Mahuika, who snatched the ball out of the air and sprinted into the endzone.
After Carney would put the Falcons up 14-7 in the second quarter, Chad Hall would score the 3rd touchdown in style.
It seemed as if Hall would be stopped behind the line of scrimmage on the toss play, but somehow the running back spurted through two defenders, broke a tackle, juked through another - and sprinted towards the endzone - leaving the Cougar defenders wondering what the heck just happened.
The Cougars are hoping to get back on the winning train as they travel to Albuquerque to face the 2-2 New Mexico Lobos this coming Saturday.
