Re: Maize's Golden Domers: "Adding to the House Rockne Built"

Special Teams See Changes
A rough start to the 2009 season could mean many changes to the Notre Dame football program in the future. The coaching staff pointed part of the blame on the special teams unit.

Including an "atrocious" start for the kicking game, the team benched placekicker Brandon Walker, the struggling junior, in place of Ryan Burkhart. A senior, Burkhart expected to just see kickoff duties and potentially long field goal attempts. But after a difficult start to '09, Burkhart has been given the chance on all field goals, including extra points.

The return game has been a bit of a worry, but Armando Allen will get some help in kick returns. While the coaching staff looked to have Golden Tate return both kicks and punts, they have decided to go with both running backs, adding Robert Hughes to relieve Allen's duties. The two expect to share returns, as well as carries.

Heading into a road game with Purdue, Notre Dame is still looking for its first win. Three consecutive, difficult losses show some weakness to what was thought to be a strong team in 2009. The pressure is now on the entire coaching staff. Most importantly, Head Coach Charlie Weis, who many fans and members of the media are calling to resign.

Re: Maize's Golden Domers: "Adding to the House Rockne Built"

Recruiting News and Updates

Notre Dame
Two to Visit for Huskies
Even with a tough start to 2009, the Irish are still finding success on the recruiting trail. Two of the nation's top offensive playmakers will visit South Bend next week when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish play host to the University of Washington.

Zac Bradley, a big armed Quarterback from Hazelwood High School in Missouri has been targeted by Notre Dame. Bradley, a three year starter at Quarterback, has played a pro-style offense and is looking at a potential Missouri High School Football State Championship season. Ranked as the third best Quarterback in the nation, he was quoted recently as saying his collegiate choice will come down to "Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas."

Bradley will visit South Bend with his parents, the first of three straight weeks in which he will visit his top choices. He seems to be a poised, confident Quarterback that has the talent to make a big splash at the next level.

The other player visiting Notre Dame is a four-star receiver from west coast power, Cedarwood High School in Santa Clara, California. Roosevelt "Rosie" Billings is expected to have a big senior season, as he comes into the season as the nation's second best receiver.

An all-around receiver, he runs in the low 4.3's, and impressed in workouts at the U.S. Army Junior Combine. During those workouts, he had a 40 inch vertical, benched 305 lbs. and showed off impressive field awareness and vision. He is between USC and Notre Dame, but will take his official visit to South Bend a week before the Trojans visit Notre Dame.

Players Visiting vs. Washington
QB Zac Bradley, Hazelwood, MO - 6'4" 232 - Nationally Ranked QB: #3
WR Roosevelt Billings, Santa Clara, CA - 6'2" 207 - Nationally Ranked WR: #2
