Re: Johnny Griggs and the Buffalo Bulls

Happy New Year! Been VERY busy with work and our family holidays. Sorry for not posting much over the past ten days.

Hollidays are over . Thanks to those who have been following along. I'll be posting mid season statistics for the Bulls this Weekend along with updating recruiting- kind of giving a mid-season roundup so to speak.

Again,

Happy New Year!

Bulls send the Black Bears Packing

The University of Buffalo Bulls were able to avoid the upset against the Division 1 Maine Black Bears Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears, better known for their nationally ranked Hockey program were outsized and outgunned as the fell to the Bulls 52-3 in front of 23,572 at UB Stadium. Aware of the upset Maine pulled over Mississippi State in 2004, Coach Griggs had his team fired up for the fray.

Bulls Quarterback Aaron James threw for three touchdowns and completed twelve of twenty-eight for two hundred thirty-nine yards. Halfback Adam Moore broke the century mark for the sixth consecutive game rushing for one hundred fifty yards and two touchdowns. Lamar Campanella had one hundred fifty yards receiving on six catches and one touchdown as he yet again broke the one hundred yard mark in yards. Campy also had his first punt return for a touchdown (91 yds) this season.

Ranked sixth in the Nation, the Bulls defense tallied up nine sacks with Lawrence Lowe and Matt Reese tied for three in the game. Lowe is ranked second in the nation with a total of sacks for the season.

"I'd like to thank the Black Bears for travelling to Buffalo to play us today." Coach Griggs said in his postgame press conference. "It is always difficult to make the jump and play the bigger schools, although the score didn't reflect it, they [Maine] played with alot of hear today. Frankly speaking, I was getting worried when we put up that goose egg in the first quarter. Maine was blitzing and held our running game in check for the first fifteen minutes. I think if you look at all of our games this season, we have been outscored, or haven't scored, much in the first quarter of the game." Griggs added.
