Bucs show lack of Offense

Miami, FL - The Tampa Bay Bucs arrived in Miami early yesterday morning to start off the preseason with a bang. Well a bang was definitely there but from the arms of the Miami Dolphins. Matt Ryan and crew took on the first series like all-stars, getting first down after first down and eventually running it in from short distance. The Buccaneers defense even make the tough stops along the first quarter and most of the second, but lack of sustained drives would slowly eat away at Tampa Bay's defense. Being down 10-7 at the half wasn't, in any means, a horrible place to be in due to them receiving the second half kick, but with the starters being taken out for the second half it didn't look good. Tim Tebow showed up to play and gave us an insight of his potential, but it wasn't enough. His inexperience ended up costing the Bucs a fighting chance. His pocket awareness was basically non existant and took way too long to release the ball which ended up with incompletions in the long run. With the two scores by Darren McFadden they were atleast able to remain close in the last minutes of the game but it was too late. The defense was tired and couldn't contain passing duo of Flacco and Whitehurst. The Buccaneers need to step up their game against the Chiefs next week or we might be in for a dissappointing start of the season.

Loving that offense and linebacker corps, good talent and young. D-Line looks like it is getting up there in age and the secondary looks average besides Nnamdi.

Sig isn't sarcastic, I love playing 11 right now. Once I hit regular season you will get more indepth things....I'm trying to just breeze through the preseason and give you the bare minimum.

Another case of Pirates and Indians

Tampa FL -No this isn't a story of Peter Pan and his journeys through Neverland, but I can say that Tim Tebow doesn't ever wanna grow up. We'll get to Tim later but lets start with how good the run stop was today. Kept the opponents under 100 yards on the ground even the 2nd team out there after halftime. The Bucs need to still work on their defensive backs because Asomugha can't do it by himself. Second straight game with over 300 yards let up in the air. This can't happen when we hit opening day.

Great to see Maroney picking up some good yards, but very disappointed in McFadden. So far I thought it would be a battle to find who gets that starting HB role, but it looks like Maroney is the dominant back in this case. Darren has 2 more games to find his role. DMac may find himself in 3rd down situations only if he can't pump up his game.

Matt Ryan started out the game slinging and hitting Miles Austin for the first score, but we expect that of him. What impresses me is the work of Tim Tebow. This southpaw can squeeze his way out of bad decisions and still find someone open and pick up the yardage. Overall this was a good game but still a lot of work more to do to get these guys in regular season shape. Great win for the Bucs.

Rookie WR Kerry Meier Injured

Tampa, FL - Kerry Meier took a gruesome hit in the preseason game against the Chiefs. He ended up on a stretcher and was diagnosed with a broken collarbone. This injury is set to keep him sidelined til week 4. We will keep looking at the collarbone for the next few weeks and get him on the practice field as soon as we can. In the meantime the Buccaneers will be searching for a replacement. More info to come later....
