Re: The Silver and Black Comeback

Raiders Training Camp

The Oakland Raiders after a long offseason, return to training camp with a very new look on both sides of the ball. First off, the draft, this is the first time the Raiders actually had a great draft. With the first pick they got Rolando McClain, LB from Alabama, probably the best LB in his class. The next round they drafted Lamarr Houston, DL from Texas, a great pickup cause they need more people on the D-Line. The next pick was Jared Veldheer, OL from Hillsdale, he could have been a steal for the Raiders if he does well. The rest of the draft picks went like this.

Bruce Cambpell OL from Maryland
Jacoby Ford WR from Clemson
Walter McFadden DB from Auburn
Travis Goethel LB from Arizona St.
Jeremy Ware DB from Michigan St.
Stevie Brown DB from Michigan

The draft was pretty solid but now to move on with the major trades and free agency pick ups and cuts. Raider fans over the nation was hoping for the day that Jamarcus Russell would be released, the day had come and now he is gone. Raiders acquired LB Kamerion Wimbley from Cleveland for an undisclosed draft pick. The Raiders traded Kirk Morrison before the draft for Quentin Groves DE converted to LB later, and a 4th round pick from the Jags. The most intresting trade was for Jason Campbell QB from the Washington Redskins, and the Raiders got him for only a 4th round pick.

Since the trade for QB Jason Campbell, the Raider Nation has hopes now. As the Raiders enter Training Camp, they are in the critical stage of seeing who is playing their heart out for this team and who is just garbage. Most of the eyes are on QB Campbell but people still are looking at the former 1st round draft pick Darren McFadden to show his talents and the 1st round draft pick Rolando McClain. Here are the position battles for training camp and the Pre-Season.

Major injuries on star players around the league in Week 1 of the Pre-season. Proclaimed "Best CB in the NFL' Darrelle Revis is out for the year with a Complete Achilles Tear, the Jets will look for Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson (Rookie) to be starters for the year. And here is what Boldin had to say after the game.

QB Chad Henne from the Dolphins is out for at least 2 and a half months after he herniated disk after being sacked

Oakland Raiders go 1-3 in the Pre-Season

The Oakland Raiders finish 1-3 in the Pre-Season, the offense looked pretty decent but never scored higher than 18 points and both games of week 2 vs bears and week 3 could have been won by a touchdown or tied with a FG. The defense looked like it settled down after the first 2 games only allowing 1 TD in both games to end the Pre-season. Below is the pre-season leaders.

Re: The Silver and Black Comeback

The Final Roster for Oakland

A few days after the last pre-season game, the Jets release FB Tony Richardson. That same day Tony signs with the Oakland Raiders to be their starting FB since they dont have a blocking FB. It was a great pickup for the Raiders and the run game should even be alot more better with Richardson instead of Reece.

Raiders sign OT Patrick Estes and DE Jarron Gilbert to fill their roster. They cut HB Michael Bennett and WR Nick Miller to free up space for the people they signed. After these cuts and signs the Raiders finally have their final roster for the 2010-11 Season.

The QBs are a decent group, the HB is solid with power and speed, WR core is solid, O-Line looks decent, D-Line looks stacked, LB core looks pretty good, DBs look solid but need another CB.

This team should be close to a .500 winning percentage this coming Season, they might be able to steal the AFC West but no one knows for sure and these Raider fans are not going to put any high hopes just yet in the beginning of the season.

Re: The Silver and Black Comeback

Oakland Raiders at Tennesse Titans Preview

Photobucket

The Oakland Raiders must stop Chris Johnson in most of the game. They need to put pressure and Vince Young and get turnovers to win on defense. On Offense, they DMC and Bush must run the ball hard and while the O-Line does their blocking. Jason Campbell should throw it to his main guys and make smart decisions and try not to throw a pick. The O-Line was the best in the Pre-season in protecting the QB, so lets see if they didnt lose a step.

The Tennesse Titans must give the ball to CJ most of the game and let him do his thing. Vince Young must make smart plays and run out of the pocket if pressured so he can make time for the WRs. The Titans D must put a halt on the strong run game of the Oakland Raiders and also cover well while putting a bit of pressure on Campbell to win this game.

The Titans are the favorite to win this game and we should see a offensive game. But whoever has the ball last or makes the most turnovers will win the game for sure.
