Re: A Spartan Tradition at San Jose State
SPARTANS FINALIZE RECRUITS
SAN JOSE, CA-- As expected The San Jose Spartans aren't in the hurry to bring in 5 star recruits. Instead Coach Polly intends to build up with better than average players until the program is established enough to go after the top high school recruits. With that said the Spartans only signed seven recruits this off season that include six three stars and one two star. The class is headlined by Outside Linebacker Brad Hill who looks to be possibly seeing significant playing time this coming season.
"With Festejo gone to graduation, Brad looks to be his successor" Said Head Coach Eddie Polly at the signing day Luncheon." Brad has the size and skill set to come in contribute and be a young leader for this program, we expect big things from him."
The Spartans looked for size as well as hidden gems like three star receiver Aaron Arnold out of Davis California, Arnold is a big body and should bring added help to an already deep receiving core. Defensive Tackle Joe Mills is a man amongst boys, although small in hieght at 6'1 mills brings a solid 287 pounds and will be that plug in the middle this defense was missing last season.
"Mills is a tweener, we feel he can come down to in the middle for run support but he can also go to edge for us at end and has good speed for his size" Stated Polly.
Here's how the class shapes up.
FREE SAFETY TONY BEARD (6'2 189) MAPLE SHADE, NJ 2*
QUARTERBACK MATT CROSS (6'2 190) GLENDALE, CA 3*
D-TACKLE JOE MILLS (6'1 287) OGDEN, UT 3*
RECEIVER AARON ARNOLD (6'4 210) DAVIS, CA 3*
OUTSIDE BACKER BRAD HILL (6'2 216) SARATOGA, NY 3*
STRONG SAFETY MICHAEL SIMMONS (6'2 210) ANAHEIM, CA 3*
TACKLE DANNY SMITH (6'3 294) PALM SPRINGS, CA 3*
