Re: New Mexico Plays Football? | New Mexico Lobos Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Mountain West Conference News

By now most everyone knows that TCU will be leaving the Mountain West Conference for greener pastures of the Big 12 Conference starting next season. That's led the MWC courting many schools to not only fill the void left by TCU, but get the conference back to a nine or ten team conference as it was from 2005-2010. Schools such as Fresno State and Hawai'i were expected to join in the upcoming seasons, but that isn't the case anymore. Instead New Mexico State and Nevada will be the two joining schools in 2012. Both teams come from the Western Athletic Conference and both will pose as instant intra-conference rivalries. NMSU already has a long standing one hundred year rivalry with New Mexico and Nevada has a newer rivalry with MWC charter member Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV). These moves aren't the only ones happening across college football. Here's a look at the others.

  • Louisiana Tech and North Texas trade places in WAC and Sun Belt

  • Houston moves from C-USA to Big 12 to give the Big 12 a Championship Game

  • C-USA sees their Championship go down the drain as Marshall heads back to the MAC for the third time and Central Florida heads to automatic BCS qualifying Big East

  • The WAC replace Nevada and NMSU with Texas-El Paso (C-USA) and Brigham Young

  • C-USA gets back to a ten team conference with both Buffalo and Temple appropriately moving out of the MAC

Re: New Mexico Plays Football? | New Mexico Lobos Dynasty (NCAA '12)

Should be interesting how u handle a bad team and turn them around, I dunno if u have seen my dynasty yet, with Oregon.... the link is below...

but ya i try to set it all up to make everything easy to find, I think after this season ill move recruiting up to all american, i found out it was on Varsity i believe, thats why i avg 2.3 class rank the last 3 seasons. And i was thinking of finding 5 guys i really want at the start of recruiting and targeting them, and then let the cpu find and offer the rest, and then coach what i get,

I need to get my madden 12 one going, I think ill do the same thing im doing on NCAA sim a series on O and D and then play a series on O and D back and forth, I like the coach mode on NCAA alil more.. but ya ill follow your dynasty, good luck

Good to see another person taking on the New Mexico challenge. I started one as the OC there.

Donnie Duncan became a beast for me, winning the Biletnikoff his Jr year. Gongbay was pretty solid too. I was 4-8 my first year, 7-5 the next, then 10-2 mwc champ before going on to OC at Michigan St.

GOOD LUCK!!

Re: New Mexico Plays Football? | New Mexico Lobos Dynasty (NCAA '12)

benton32: I actually already read it from time to time. I tend to lurk in more dynasties than I actually post in.

Wyldd: Yeah, after my last dynasty seemed to become too easy more quickly than I anticipated I wanted a true challenge. As I've already seen with the lack of recruiting prospects wanting to come to UNM, this is going to be quite the uphill battle.

UTEP, Arizona Rivalries To Continue

Lobos Athletic Director Paul Krebs has announced that New Mexico will be renewing their rivalries with both Texas-El Paso and Arizona starting in the 2012 season. After a two year drought the Lobos beat the Miners last season, but the schools didn't re-schedule for this season and there was a bit of uncertainty about the rivalries' future.

As for Arizona, they have not played New Mexico since 2008. Many have felt it's because the Lobos had won the previous two meetings and didn't want it to end on a losing note. For over 50 years the rivalry winner was awarded the Kit Carson Rifle Trophy, but after it was discovered the rifle may have been used against Native Americans, the trophy was no longer awarded.

New Mexico has agreed to a two year home-home series with Arizona, starting in Tucson. The Texas-El Paso series will be for four years and start in Albuquerque.

Lobos Hold On To Upset Bid Over Colorado State

@

Game Notes
  • A pair of interceptions for touchdowns kept the Lobos in the game
  • Until Chris Nwoke left the game early in the 3rd quarter, the Lobos could not contain him
  • A stellar performance by B.R. Holbrook was able to lead the Lobos to a two score lead in the 4th quarter
  • The Rams came storming back, but a failed onside kick will spell upset victory for New Mexico
Lobos Injury Notes
  • Lamaar Thomas left the game in the 3rd quarter and did not return

Freddy Young picks off a Pete Thomas pass on the second play from scrimmage and gives the Lobos an early 7-0 lead.

Chris Nwoke steps out of a would be tackler and makes a couple more miss on his way to CSU’s first touchdown of the game.

Raymond Carter picks up right where Nwoke left off as he out runs the defense for a 38 yard score.

Jaymar Latchison plants Pete Thomas for a sack that would lead up to Deshawn Mills’ pick six.

Quinton Solomon jumps over a defender to reel in a big touchdown to give the Lobos a two score lead in the 4th quarter.

Two defensive backs get lost in coverage and that allows Lou Greenwood to pull the Rams within five.

New Mexico Plays Football?

Arkansas, Ronnie Wingo Too Much For New Mexico

@ #17

Game Notes
  • Despite only rushing for 26 yards, the Lobos were able to throw for three touchdown passes
  • Interceptions, once again, kept New Mexico in the game
  • However, a great performance by Ronnie Wingo was too much to handle
  • Greg Childs also had a big day for the Razorbacks, with two touchdown grabs
Lobos Injury Notes
  • Tarean Austin left the game with a concussion, but is expected to be available next week vs Texas Tech
  • Toby Ball, Martize Barr, and Dallas Bollema all received minor injuries and were able to return

The Razorbacks had pressure on B.R. Holbrook all day long, recording eight sacks.

Ronnie Wingo does his best Heisman pose on his way to his first of three touchdown runs.

Lucas Reed makes a great catch in traffic in the endzone for his first touchdown of the day.

After an interception A.J. Butler gets a nice block to spring him for the Lobos’ third defensive touchdown of the early season.

Jaymar Lyles times up the snap to block an extra point in the 4th quarter.

Arkansas puts the game away with this fumble return by sophomore Robert Thomas.
