Polk Runs All Over UCLA in 59-7 Win
Seattle, WA -- He wouldn't tell anyone even if it was the case, but you had to know being knocked off the Heisman Watch List despite not having any subpar games had to be eating at Washington star running-back Chris Polk. Polk, the 2011 Heisman winner, leading the nation in rushing, had seen his name slip down and completely off the Heisman Watch List. So, you'll have to excuse anyone who thought Polk had taken it personally and Saturday's game against UCLA was his personal mission to prove he still belonged in the Heisman discussion. Polk carried the ball 39 times and gained 309 yards and scored four touchdowns to firmly plant himself back in the Heisman race.
Other than that, nothing too special happened in the game. That is if you don't think a 59-7 beating isn't special. Sure, Washington's dangerous 1-2 rushing duo of Polk and Jesse Callier tallied 400 rushing yards. On the other side of the ball it was a dominant performance from the Husky defense that really opened head-coach Steve Sarkisian's eyes.
"We knew the offense was good. Everyone did. But our defense has been suspect, at best, the lat couple of seasons. I was real proud of how we flew to the ball and were always in position to make a play. That was a rare performance by the defense but it can't be the last." -Steve Sarkisian.
UCLA did not register in the scoring column until the fourth quarter and managed just 235 yards of total offense in a humiliating 59-7 defeat. The Washington win sets up a math-up with the second ranked Stanford Cardinal next Saturday in Husky Stadium. It will be a game in which Washington will be seeking to avenge last year's 40-34 overtime loss to Stanford.

Number One No More
Washington Gets Revenge
Seattle, WA (AP) -- There were some questioning if Stanford was a legit number one. Legitimate number one teams don't struggle with the likes of Colorado (62-55 win in OT) or Southern Miss (28-21 win) at home, do they? Well, the Cardinal did nothing to quieten their doubters in yesterday's loss to Washington.
Despite being knocked out of the game with a separated shoulder, Chris Polk was still able to rack up 131 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns. The Washington defense had another dominating performance, holding the Stanford offense to just 236 yards of total offense. The win avenges a 40-34 overtime loss at Stanford last season, and gives Washington their third win over teams currently ranked in the top 15 in the nation.

Blanton Commits
Rock, Henry Narrow it to Three
Last time we checked in on our recruits, one had committed, and the other three had narrowed their lists to their top five. Now, Johnny Rock and Dalton Henry have announced their top three while defensive-end Justin Blanton announced his decision to play for Oklahoma next season.
Justin Blanton, a 6'5" 252 pound defensive-end out of Arkansas fell in love with Oklahoma after his week seven visit to Norman. The nation's seventh ranked defensive-end had narrowed his choices to in-state Arkansas and fellow SEC member Ole Miss. In the end, though, it was Oklahoma who won him over.
"It was a tough choice. I grew up an Arkansas fan and a part of me wanted to stay home and play for the Razorbacks. But, in the end, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to play for Oklahoma. They were the first ones to offer me and they recruited me harder than any other school. They've got a ton of tradition and I felt at home on my visit there last week." Said Blanton.
6'2" 199 pound five-star receiver Dalton Henry has narrowed it down to three schools in the running for his services. The nation's #5 receiver out of New York recently announced he will be choosing between Penn State, Alabama, and LSU. Insiders say, though, he is Penn State's to lose.
Johnny Rock, a four-star running-back out of Missouri has announced his final three are Arkansas, TCU, and Iowa. While Iowa is in the top three, this appears to be a two team race with Arkansas holding a slight lead over TCU. Rock has a visit scheduled at TCU in week nine and an Arkansas visit set-up for week 14.
