Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

BIG INJURY FOR THE BUCKEYES

Columbus, OH - Starting QB for the #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, Terrelle Pryor, has strained his right quadriceps in the week 1 game against the Marshall Thundering Heard. Ohio State's head coach Jim Tressell has stated that Pryor will miss the big game against the #13 ranked Miami Hurricanes this weekend. "This is very unfortunate for Terrelle (Pryor) and the team. He is a big playmaker for our team and it is tough losing him." Coach Tressell says that backup Joe Bauserman will start. "We will need a big game from him for sure. Miami has a great front three and our line will need to protect him."

Lane Kiffin also commented on the injury. "That is very unfortunate for the Buckeyes. Speedy recovery to the kid and I hope there isn't any long term damage." When asked if the injury to the opposing QB changed the Hurricanes' gameplan at all he answered with this: "Why would it change anything? I believe we would've won even if they had him (Pryor) playing in the game. We are playing that well right now. We've had a good week of practice and are ready for the Buckeyes, no matter who is the starting quarterback for them."

Game Notes
Huge loss for the Ohio State offense, losing starting QB T. Pryor, especially against a tough team like Miami. Ohio State will start backup QB Joe Bauserman against the stingy 'Canes defense. Ohio State will need a big game out of Dan Herron and the defense. We could see a win out of the Lane Kiffin led 'Canes against a contending team.

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

Defense roughs up OSU's back-up, gets the win for the 'Canes.
G. Cooper out for 9 weeks.

Bauserman getting plastered

Columbus, OH - The Hurricanes walked into The Horseshoe with their heads held high, with head coach Lane Kiffin at the helm, and everyone on the roster looking healthy and ready to play strong for the whole season. That was until the 3rd quarter came around. On a draw play up the middle, G. Cooper got sandwiched between two defenders and fumbled the ball. Medical staff goes to check on G. Cooper after the play and find he has a dislocated elbow. "Unfortunately the medical department says that Graig will be out for roughly 9 weeks" says head coach Lane Kiffin at the post-game press conference, "It is really sad to see something like this. Graig wanted to help contribute to this football team on the field. He could be back by the time we play in the National Championship game, where he WILL start."

On to the game: Lets just say that the Hurricanes defense had a mindset to get after Bauserman. They recorded 8 sacks on the back-up QB and on a very good offensive line. It says a lot when Kiffin himself pulled A. Bailey out of the game after he got two sacks in the first half. "I'm not mad at all that he pulled me. It would be no fun breaking the sack record in the first two games." With those two sacks A. Bailey now leads the FBS with 5 sacks in just two games. In the game, his replacement was D. Dye who ended up being POTG after recording 4 tackles, 2 sacks, a fumble recovery return for a touchdown, and a forced fumble. "I think there was something about that right side of their line. They just couldn't stop us" says D. Dye after the game, "8 sacks in one game? No no no, in two straight games... 8 sacks in each game? That is just crazy."

A. Johnson caught two touchdown passes from Jacory Harris in the game and had a pretty easy time weaving through the OSU defense. As did wide receiver L. Byrd who snagged 4 passes for 76 yards. "I'm really proud of our kids this week. They all played great, and we got the win on a tough opponent. Maybe it would'a held more substance if Terrelle Pryor was out on the field... but then again, why would we want to embarrass a potential Heisman candidate?" says Lane Kiffin to end the press conference. The Hurricanes have a bye week this next week, and will face the Pittsburgh Panthers the week after. So far so good for the Lane Kiffin lead Hurricanes who are already punching their tickets to the National Title game in January. Can they keep it up? or are all these just blind promises by the controversial head coach?

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

Miami, FL - Hopes are high in the 'Canes locker room after their bye week and an extra week of practice. "Our boys deserved this extra week of practice. They all played great at the Horseshoe two weeks ago." With the injury to Graig Cooper in the game two weeks ago, a new HB had to step up and take the start. Many people heading into this week thought it was Damien Berry, but Lane Kiffin announced earlier today that Mike James will get the start at tail back in this game against #13 Ranked Pittsburgh. Mike James started the season as the 3rd string HB behind Cooper and Berry. "I'm glad I am getting the opportunity to start." said true sophomore James. "I want to contribute to this team. I think I can help us win if I am getting the 1st and 2nd down carries."

Like it always is, and always has been in Miami, the competitive nature of the players have caused a split backstage. One that Lane Kiffin says is "Appropriate." One half of the team thinking Berry should start; while the other have pulling for the sophomore James to lead the team. "I feel like it should be seniority first." says Wide Receiver Leonard Hankerson, "If Mike (James) was a senior and had his place taken by a sophomore, I bet he would be mad too. I think if a player only has one year of eligibility left, then they should get the change to contribute." Lane Kiffin commented with "I think it is appropriate for the team to be at each others necks. It builds character. I made James the starter because he was doing the best in practice. If (Damien) Berry does good in practice next week, then he will get the start. Even Jacory Harris can lose his job if he slumps in practice. I want my players to be in the mentality that they always have to fight for their depth chart spot, which they always will be in if I am coaching. I want the most competitive players out there every Saturday."

"I'm happy for Mike. He outplayed me in practice, and he gets the start. I understand why some people are pulling for me, but it wasn't even my job to begin with. People just assumed I was going to start. Do you know what assuming does? 'It makes an *** out of you and me.' " stated Berry after the last practice of the week. "Like coach said, we have to fight for our spots every week. I plan on doing it for the rest of the year."

Starting HB for the Hurricanes injured his elbow in the game versus Ohio State last week. Mike James, the third string HB to start the season, jumped Damien Berry for the start this week after a stellar performance in practice. Both these teams are rated in the Top 15 and are both in the top 5 of Points Per Game. We could have a Shoot Out in Sun Life Stadium. Prediction: Miami by 3.

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

HARRIS AND JAMES LEAD OFFENSE, DEFENSE HOLDS STRONG

Sunseri looks on with awe as D. Van Dy-ke jumps the screen

Miami, FL - The Hurricanes notch their third win of the season against the #13 ranked Panthers. The consensus before the game was that both teams would be burning each other's defenses, but the 'Canes defense held throughout except on one blip, an 80 yard touchdown pass from Tino Sunseri, when the game was already lost. The 'Canes defense recorded 3 sacks and 2 interceptions, the first interception being returned for a touchdown to put the Hurricanes on the board in the first quarter. Not only did Miami reek havoc on Tino Sunseri and the receiving corps, they also held Dion Lewis and the other backs in check. Dion Lewis was held to 16 yards on 17 carries, while the negative yardage that Sunseri racked up on the sacks totaled a whopping -22 yards giving the overall team -4 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Speaking of running backs, Mike James seemed to do fine in his first start for the Hurricanes. James didn't score any touchdowns but was able to reach 150 yards on 21 carries. The only rushing touchdown was scored by Damien Berry on a nice 20 yard run from the shotgun halfway through the third; seems like he is making a case for himself to become the starter. He finished with 46 yards on only 8 carries. "In the locker room after the game, (Damien) Berry came up to me and said 'what would you rather have... yards or points?' That is what I want. A constant competitive player like Damien Berry and Mike James." said Lane Kiffin after the blowout win. "I still don't know who will start next week. It may be a game-time decision."

Leonard Hankerson and Travis Benjamin both snagged two touchdown receptions each from starting QB Jacory Harris who had his best game of the season. Harris was able to consistently move down the field when it called for it and finished drives. The Hurricanes had 21 points off turnovers. Another story of the game was the Hurricanes offense almost doubling the time of possession. Like stated before, Harris managed the game very well and was able to keep drives alive with his feet and arm. They racked up 20 minutes of possession while the defense held the Pittsburgh offense to only 11 minutes. "I feel like I say this every week, but each and every week it becomes more true. These kids played with 110% and won the game for us. Everyone did their part, and everyone had fun doing it."

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

Miami, FL - The Hurricanes of Miami travel to Clemson, South Carolina for their first ACC conference game of the year. This is the ninth meeting of the two teams, and Miami leads the series 5-3. Miami just came off of a blow-out win over then ranked #13 Pittsburgh Panthers 48-17. Lane Kiffin has his troops fired up for the first ACC conference game of his head coaching career. "I am confident in my players at the moment. We had a great game last week, and we look to continue the success this week." said Lane Kiffin. "We don't like Clemson very much. They talk a lot of trash, but we are ready for them. We won't let them get ahead." Said the NCAA's leading sacker, A. Bailey.

Mike James will make his second start of the season over Damien Berry. Mike James carried the team with 150 yards on 21 carries, while Damien Berry scored the only Hurricane rushing touchdown of the game last week. "Like I said last week, it comes down to practice. James continued to perform in practice and really showed a lot of skill... enough to were he will start this week. Damien will still be apart of the offense, yes. He scored a touchdown last week, and he will probably score another one this week. Starting a player doesn't mean they will be on the field the whole time. If James starts slipping up during the game, then he will be subbed out for someone else until we need him again." says Lane Kiffin at the press conference after practice.
