Spring Game Notes #1-Offense
What to look forward to from the "Purple Pirates"

Quarterback
Starter: #7 Rio Johnson (6-2/188 JR)

Rio Johnson came out of the Spring Game as the go-to guy for the open quarterback position. In addition to a strong throwing arm, Johnson also showed strong pocket presence, and field awareness en route to the Purple Team's 21-6 win over the White Team. Johnson went 12-16 with 127 passing yards while scoring 2 TDs, and more importantly zero interceptions. The biggest question mark surrounding Johnson was with his ability to make plays when he had to call his own number on option reads. While showing flashes of elusiveness, Johnson only managed 12 yards on 6 attempts.

Running Backs
Starters: #34 Torrance Hunt (5-8/177 JR)
#28 Reggie Bullock (5-9/178 SR)

Even though physically Hunt and Bullock look alike, the two could not be any different than each other. Hunt is more eruptive and has a tendency to break plays to the outside where he can use his speed to his advantage. Offensive Coordinator Ryan Larkey used this to his advantage by using Hunt in the passing game, setting up multiple screen passes and running hunt on short routes. While Bullock, only pushing 180 pounds respectively, is not a traditional "power" back, he seemed to get a bulk of the carries up the middle and seems to get quite a bit of playing time as a grinding back. Hunt finished with 60 yards on 11 attempts with 20 receiving yards with a fumble. Bullock finished with 32 on 13 attempts and scored on a one yard dive.

Spring Game Notes #2-Offense
The Go-Go in Greenville

Wide Receivers
Starters: #2 Justin Hardy (6-0/181 RS SO)
#19 Andrew Bodenheimer (6-3/204 RS SR)
#33 Danny Webster (5-10/188 RS SO)
#15 Reese Wiggins (5-11/189 RS JR)

The weakness of the offense is the wide out corps. Justin Hardy does the bulk of the work, and Andrew Bodenheimer can carry his own, but the rest of the group need to step up and have a great season in order for ECU to stay above water.

Tight Ends
Starters: #84 Justin Jones (6-8/264 RS JR)
#87 Zico Pasut (6-3/234 RS JR)

The biggest question mark for the Pirates is the tight ends. Justin Jones is a big, physical specimen and there is no doubt he can help out on the line, but how effective will he be in the passing game is the question that needs to be answered.

O Line
Starters:
LT-#57 Adhem Elsawi (6-5/319 RS JR)
LG- #78 Jordan Davis (6-3/290 RS JR)
C- # 71 Josh Clark (6-4/280 SR RS)
RG- #70 Will Simmons (6-5/310 RS JR)
RT- #75 Chaz Lowery (6-5/277 RS FR)

Truly the lifeblood of the offense, the hogs are a seasoned pack anchored literally by Josh Clark, the only senior on the line. Even the newcomer, Chaz Lowery looked impressive in the impressive, storming downfield to pick up blocks. As long as the line holds up, the dream season for ECU lives on.

All things considered, it looks like a pretty good year is in store for ECU and Greenville will be rocking.
