ESU falls apart in 4th, Loses to BC
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts - Coming off a blowout win over Akron confidence was dangerously high when ESU rolled into Alumni Stadium to take on the 0-1 Eagles of Boston College. Coach Winters had preached all week that BC would be a much better opponent than ESU had faced in years.
Things were looking up for the Timberwolves when James returned the opening kick off 51 yards into BC territory. ESU would end up settling for a field goal. They got two more chances in the first quarter when Ortiz and Morgan both picked off Rettig passes on BC’s side of the 50. Both times ESU settled for field goals. After the quarter ESU was up 9-0 and it was a disappointment for them. The offense continued to pick up yardage but have drives stall. BC could not get anything going on offense as Rettig struggled to connect on his passes with the ESU front seven in his face.
The score remained 9-0 until midway through the third quarter Drake connected with Smith for a 44 yard TD. ESU would fail to convert to two point attempt. Early in the fourth quarter Drake coughed up the ball on a scramble. The Eagles Pierre-Louis scooped it up and took it to the house. BC trailed 15-6 after a failed conversion. Just minutes later on the following possession Drake fumbled again and BC recovered. A few plays later Rettig hit a wide open Finch on a swing pass and he trotted in for the score untouched. Freese hit the point after and made it 15-13 ESU with just over six minutes to play. With Sparks and James both out of action the ESU offense could not find any rhythm and was forced to punt. A methodical drive by BC put them on the ESU 4 yard line with a first down. The ESU defense stepped up and held but Freese easily connected on the 24 yard field goal and gave the Eagles a 16-15 lead with :56 showing on the clock. With no time outs left Drake led the Timberwolves offense onto the field. Zickafoose broke off a pair of nice runs but a pair of incompletions and a sack killed the clock and ESU hung their heads in defeat.
“We played solid football for the majority of the game. We weren’t able to take advantage of their miscues and they took full advantage of ours like a good team should.” Coach Winters said after the game. When asked about the injuries to Sparks and James Winters indicated that little was known and both would be evaluated back in Jacksonville.
ESU hosts 0-2 U Mass next week.

Re: Howl and Prowl - An Eastern State University CAP Dynasty
lol, 5 points per game for UMass. Sad thing is, that's better than their real life points per game through the first 2 games and just 4 points under their season average.
