Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

#2 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. #1 Clemson Tigers

For weeks Clemson and Ohio State had been preparing for this inevitable matchup. Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins was one of many Seniors on both teams that were hoping to end their collegiate season with a ring. Watkins who came away with the Returner of the year award took the opening kickoff 101 yards for the score. In a blink of an eye Clemson had the Buckeyes on the defensive. Miller and Kelly both followed with TD drives where they displayed their precise accuracy. At the end of the first Clemson held a narrow 14-10 lead.

Early in the 2nd quarter with the ball in their redzone Kelly threw an INT giving the ball right back to a red hot Buckeyes offense. Clemson SS Robert Smith however picked off Miller on the very next play and returned it for a 50 yd TD. Miller shook off the poor decision and threw a bomb on his next drive to WR Devin Smith for yet another score. If it wasn’t obvious for the fans in the audience before they knew after watching the first half that they were watching the two highest scoring offenses in the league. RB Thomas Dye started to find the holes in the 2nd quarter and the back tacked on two more scores. The Buckeyes poor clock management prevented them from getting a FG off and Clemson snuck into the half with a 35-24 lead.

It seemed the game was all but over when Clemson jumped out to a commanding 42-24 lead in the third quarter. But the Buckeyes clawed back into the game and with time winding down found themselves inside their ten trailing 45-31. Braxton Miller went out plays before with a concussion and was forced to watch from the sideline as the backup QB Cardale Jones stepped in and threw a touchdown to bring them even closer. Clemson Team Captains TE Seckinger and MLB Anthony however would put the game away for the Tigers. Anthony would force a fumble on the goaline and Seckinger would catch an 18yd seam on 4th and 1 to run the clock out. With his conversion time ran out and with the scoreboard reading 45-38 Clemson was National Champions!

Clemson W 45-38

Unbeaten Clemson was the heavy favorite in the BCS Championship game against Ohio State. Buckeyes QB Braxton Miller put up over 500 yards of offense against the best defense in the country despite missing most of the 4th quarter. Clemson went on to win 45-38 but many wonder how it would have ended if Miller wasn’t knocked out the game.

Tennessee and Iowa played in the Capital One Bowl. Both teams were serious contenders at one point in the season and were looking to end the season on a winning note. Iowa QB Cody Sokol threw 4TDs in his last collegiate game but Tennessee kicked in a FG with 17 seconds to pick up a 38-35 win.

The Fiesta Bowl pitted two 1 loss teams as Texas took on UCF. The Black Knights led most of the game and won 35-21. QB Blake Bortles accounted for all five scores and DE Deion Green picked up 3 Sacks on the night.

The Pac-12 made up for not having one standout team in their conference by winning 9 out of 10 of their Bowl games. Their only loss was the Sun Devils loss in the Rose Bowl. The Big 12 on the other hand lost all six of their bowl games.

SEC Powerhouses Ole Miss and Florida both picked up huge BCS Bowls win and secure a Top 3 spot in the polls to end the season. It is a bit peculiar though for the Rebels to be ranked above Florida when the Gators won 3 more games and beat them head- to head.

Clemson Coaching Carousel

Clemson DC Brent Venables becomes West Vrginia new HC (A+)
Clemson OC Chad Morris becomes Arkansas new HC (A+)

New DC John Thompson former Arkansas State DC (C+)
New OC Dana Holgorsen former West Virginia HC (B-)

2015 Clemson Tigers Draft Prospects

DT Grady Jarrett- (Projected Round 1)
HB DJ Howard- (Projected Round 1)
WR Sammy Watkins- (Projected Round 1)
MLB Stephone Anthony- (Projected Round 2)
LE Corey Crawford- (Projected Round 2)
RT Gifford Timothy- (Projected Round 2)
WR Charone Peake- (Projected Round 3)
LOLB Tony Steward- (Projected Round 3)
DT Josh Watson- (Projected Round 3)
CB Bashaud Breeland- (Projected Round 4)
RE Vic Beasley- (Undrafted?)
SS Robert Smith- (Undrafted?)
WR Adam Humphries- (Undrafted?)

The Tigers lose a whole lot of talent this year. All four members of their D-line nicknamed the Orange Crush for their insane ability to get to the quarterback graduate this year. All four possess legit NFL talent and will be playing on Sundays real soon. They wrecked havoc on offensive lines in their two year tenure together and will go down in campus history. Defensive captain MLB Stephone Anthony was the heart and soul of not just the defense but the team.

The rest of the defense wasn’t any lucky either as they lose their three best CB’s and the leader of the secondary Thorpe winner SS Robert Smith. OLB Tony Steward one of the most underrated players in the country was overshadowed by a defense full of playmakers. Steward only played his senior year but proved to be one of the best coverage linebackers around.

On the offense side of the ball Clemson loses their Top 3 receivers and feature back DJ Howard. Howard and Watkins broke numerous Clemson school records in their tenure at Death Valley. The offensive line lost their best player in RT Gifford Timothy but stay largely intact.

Here comes the rest of rest of the 2015 Clemson recruting class. Some guy to watch out for in the future is DE Maurice Romero and MLB Roger Wagner. They'll spend the freshman year redshirting but look out for them soon. WR Brandon Williams is a big body receiver who will fill some holes left in the receiving corps.

Conference Changes

-Navy Joins the American
-Notre Dame and BYU accept membership into the Big 12
-Old Dominion tries its hand in the Sun Belt

The NFL has been looking for ways to expand the game globally for years now and this seems to be a step in the right direction. An American Football team headquartered in Europe is a bold new idea. But owner Mark Murphy remains confident in his decision and is eager to show the people of London how dominant his team is. “The idea here is us bringing our talented team over from Green Bay will get all those folks cheering at those soccer games lining up to see us play.” Forget Seattle and Kansas City because it looks like London is going to be the place to be.

Wasn't much work done on the offense this season besides picking up Kenny Britt and drafting Carlos Hyde. Britt is a big body receiver who will do a lot of his work near the goal line running fades and working on smaller defensive backs in the slot. Hyde adds a little more physical play to team already with a young superstar at tailback in Eddie Lacy.

Already with playmakers on defense the Black Knights added depth up front with the addition of defensive lineman Peko and Cody. Two rookies SS Sean Parker and DE Ethan Hemer will be starting and bring some young blood into the fold. The biggest acquisition however was getting HOF LB Ray Lewis from retirement. With the talent this team has in their receiving and linebacking corps along with Aaron Rodgers expect another 10+ win season.
