Mixed the qb's up in my depth chart. i picked up Dennis Dixon and he'll be the starter and Sorenson will be the bacup.

Novak Shanks Game Tying Field Goal Attempt

The new look San Diego Chargers came up just short on Monday night falling to the Houston Texans 24-21 in an exciting Monday night matchup.

With franchise quarterback Phillip Rives gone, the Chargers were big time underdogs against the AFC powerhouse. But Mike McCoy's team stood toe to toe with the Texans but they just didn't have enough left to get over the hump.

"I love the fight my guys showed out there," said McCoy after the game. "I saw some things i liked and i saw some things we need to work on?"

The things that they need to work on as the be the multiple turnover. Five of those came from new starter Dennis Dixon. Dixon finished completing 13-25 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. His two touchdown passes were to rookie WR Keenan Allen on a 19 yard strike in the first quarter to put the Chargers up 7-0. His second one went to Malcolm Floyd in the 4th to put the Chargers up 21-17.

The Texans went up for good on a Schaub to Hopkins 9 yards pass with a little under 3 minutes left in the game. Dixon led drove the team into Texans territory and set Novak up for a potential game tying field goal but the veteran Novak missed the attempt to the right which sealed the game for the Texans.

The Chargers will look to regroup and and get ready for their matchup Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
