Re: Put Her In The Old Vice! - Green Bay Packers CCM (M25)

REVENGE!

The last competitive game Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers played was at Candlestick Park in the divisional round of the playoffs, where they were decimated by Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers.

But today, Rodgers exacted some revenge.

It didn't start well for the Packers, and it looked like Kaepernick would get the better of the 2011 NFL MVP again, as the 49ers led 24-13 at halftime. Touchdown passes to Vernon Davis and LaMichael James, as well as a 29-yard field goal from Phil Dawson and a run into the end zone from Frank Gore following an interception by Darcel McBath, gave San Francisco the edge going into the second half.

That Gore touchdown would be the last points the 49ers scored in this game. Green Bay came out and marched down the field, Rodgers going 5-of-5 for 57 yards, before a 1-yard John Kuhn run into the end zone made it a one-score game. A 55-yard field goal from Mason Crosby not only showed that the kicker has returned to form, but also reduced the deficit to one point.

The Packers finally took the lead through a 5-yard run from Rodgers for the touchdown, and they didn't let the lead go. It was a tense finish though, with Kaepernick having two separate drives within the final two minutes to try and snatch the lead back, but was intercepted twice, by Casey Hayward and M.D. Jennings respectively.

Unlike their last meeting, defense came up big for Green Bay this time around.

[center]James Jones Out For Rest Of Season

The Green Bay Packers pulled out a hard-fought victory against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but it now a bittersweet one with the news that wide receiver James Jones has been ruled out for the rest of the 2013 season with a torn pectoral muscle, being placed on injured reserve.

The injury came when Jones, who had 14 touchdown catches last season, made his second catch of the game and was hit by 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers.

This will come as a huge blow to the Packers, who now have only two proven receivers on their depth chart in Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. The rest of their receivers corps consists of Jarrett Boykin, who was on the practice squad last year, and rookies Kevin Dorsey and Charles Johnson.
At least this CCM is somewhat realistic so far with Packers injuries!

Packers Re-Sign Two Starters

The Green Bay Packers have locked down two starters to new contracts, re-signing tight end Jermichael Finley and defensive end B.J. Raji.

Finley has signed a five-year, $28.8m deal, while Raji has agreed to a five year deal worth $25.2m.

Finley and Raji were the two most pressing concerns for the Packers as far as new deals were concerned, so this is good news. The future of wide receiver James Jones may be in doubt, after being placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle. Jones is 29, and this is his contract year.

Packers Triumph Over Redskins In Close Encounter

The Green Bay Packers were taken to the limit again this week, but nonetheless emerged from Lambeau Field with a victory against the Washington Redskins after a last-second field goal from Mason Crosby.

Second-year quarterback Robert Griffin III impressed, completing 24 of 34 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns, as well as 9 carries for 57 yards and a score.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a fine day himself, completing 27 of 35 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns and a rushing score, despite throwing a pick-six in the first quarter which was taken to the house by safety Kerry Rhodes.

Washington started hot, putting up 21 points in the first half, and lead at the end of every quarter, but after the Packers defense stopped the Redskins before the two minute warning, Rodgers had two minutes to take his team up the field to win the game, and the 2011 NFL MVP delivered.

It was also a day to remember for the Packers' rookie running back Eddie Lacy, who had his first 100-yard game, running for 100 yards on 25 carries.
