Sent from Nawlins.
He might be a guard but I drafted him to play center. And considering I have no other centers on the roster, I expect him to start unless he gets injured or he has a disastrous pre-season.

LIONS SELECT LINEBACKER WITH 2ND ROUND DRAFT PICK

NEW YORK CITY, NY -- The Detroit Lions have selected Outside Linebacker Karlos Sladek with their 2nd round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Lions' official Twitter account reported the selection after the announcement:

In Sladek, the Lions get a gritty linebacker who can cover the field at will. He had an impressive college career at Indiana, which has ultimately earned himself a 2nd round selection.

Todd McShay of ESPN shared his thoughts on the former Indiana linebacker:

Trades:

In the explanations below, (D) denotes trades that took place during the 2014 Draft, while (PD) indicates trades completed pre-draft.

No. 42: Atlanta → Minnesota (D). Atlanta traded this selection to Minnesota in exchange for Minnesota's second round selection (48th) and seventh round selection in 2015.

No. 44: Washington → Denver (D). Washington traded this selection to Denver in exchange for Denver's first round selection in 2015.

No. 48: Minnesota → Atlanta (D). see No. 42: Atlanta → Minnesota.

No. 49: Kansas City → San Francisco (PD). Kansas City traded their 2013 second round pick (34th) along with this selection to San Francisco in exchange for quarterback Alex Smith. This was a conditional pick which became a second rounder when Kansas City won a minimum of eight games during the 2013 season; it otherwise would have been a third rounder.

No. 50: San Francisco → Miami (D). San Francisco traded this selection to Miami in exchange for Miami's second and seventh round selections in 2015.

No. 58: Dallas → Tampa Bay (D). Dallas traded this selection to Tampa Bay in exchange for Tampa Bay's first round selection in 2015.

Great draft! Love the Lampley pick. A solid pick at a position of need, nothing flashy and unnecessary. I like it. I will be curious to see how he does as a center.

So the offseason is over. I'll round up Hall of Fame inductions and NFL News before venturing into the 2014 Preseason.

I head off on holiday/vacation for 10 days tomorrow. Therefore, I'm not starting the preseason today. I'll hang back and wait until I come home.
