Thanks man! Glad you are enjoying it! I decided to definitely keep it running over here at OS. I really like the site and thought a lot of people were enjoying it as well. If there is ever anything else you want to see, always feel free to let me know.

Anyway, I have a question for you. When you created your roster in the preseason, did you cut EVERY created player on the team? I'm working on mine right now, and the CPU created some players with outrageous contracts. If I cut them I may incur huge cap penalties. Did you have that problem? What did you do?

Thanks for checking in man. Definitely going to be a long season for us but definitely to be expected. If we win more than two games this first season it will be a success.

As far as the roster question, I did cut every player created despite the absurd contracts. I am taking a big risk of incurring enormous penalties like you said and I might have to do a lot of contract restructuring next season to make it work. That being said it should only be an issue for one season and I really did not want the fake players on the team. Another option would be to try to resign them to a more cap friendly salary before cutting them (I did not think to do this). Hope that helps! Will you be posting yours?

Re: A Revival | Cheese's Expansion Team Franchise

Yes I will be posting mine. Working on that, and catching up on my Tulane dynasty (which is LONG overdue). As far as the roster's concerned, I think I will try that cap-friendly resigning method. I didn't think of that either. I'll tell you how it goes.

EDIT: So I went thru & resigned some created players to cap-friendlier contracts. Guess what, it WORKED. You end up eating some cap in the first year or two, but it's only like $10-12 million, and you end up saving money in the long run. Also helps you get rid of those unwanted players. 10-12 mil seems like a lot at first, til you realize your created team has like $70 million in the bank (cuz they're bad).

So when I finally get my team up & running, I'm gonna first restructure a lot of bad contracts. Thanks for the idea!

Excellent news! I am really glad to hear this worked. I wish I had done this looking back on it but like you said with having so much money under the cap hopefully I can survive the first couple years without being in cap hell too badly. Looking forward to seeing your project up and running (if I have missed you posting link me up!) All the best!

Game Notes
Sept. 18 -- The first game of professional football in the city of Lansing, Michigan will feature the hometown Phoenix hosting the visiting Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams are coming off of opening week losses in which they surrendered 35+ points. For the Chiefs, rookie quarterback Ricky Stanzi will get the start due to the injury to Cassel.

Look for both teams to lean heavily on their running games. Jammal Charles is one of the best in the business and should have a field day against the porous defense of the Phoenix who gave up four scores on the ground last week to Tampa Bay.

Final prediction: I don't think Lansing will have an answer for Charles. I expect him to easily go over 100 yards with a couple scores. Chiefs get their first win of the season 35-17.

Season 1, Week 2, Kansas City at Lansing

Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster continued his strong start to the season getting free of the Lansing defense for two scores on the day.

Run Over: Jones Trampels Phoenix in 45-24 Rout

HB Jones runs for 200+ to lead Chiefs to first win | HB Charles suffers partial ACL tear | QB Simms throws three more picks

AP Lansing – Despite losing star HB Jamaal Charles to a partially torn ACL on the first play of the game, the Kansas City Chiefs had no problem routing the Lansing Phoenix 45-24. The Phoenix had no answer for veteran Chiefs HB Thomas Jones who ran wild for over 200 yards and two scores. For the Phoenix, the offensive woes continued as QB Chris Simms turned the ball over three times on the afternoon while completing just barely fifty percent of his passes. One bright spot on the afternoon was the continued emergence of rookie TE Rob Housler who caught over 100 yards receiving and a score.

The Chiefs jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter as QB Ricky Stanzi hooked up with his receivers for two scores.

Phoenix WR Mardy Gilyard breaks free in the second quarter for a 75 yard touchdown catch.
CB Brandon Flowers would take a Simms interception back 36 yards to extend the Kansas City lead to a comfortable 24-13 leading into halftime.

"We did a really poor job of protecting the ball today on offense. When you turn it over four times you can't expect to win too many games in the NFL." -- Phoenix GM D.J. Clayton

Jones would continue to find room in the second half, breaking free for two long touchdown runs (50 yards, 36 yards) to crush any thoughts of a comeback as the Chiefs would go on to win 45-24.

"Poor tackling, poor disciple in gap assignments. We failed in a lot of levels on our run defense." -- Phoenix GM D.J. Clayton

The Phoenix will head on the road next week for their inaugural NFC North matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are currently 0-2 on the season.

Great to see a familiar face around! Hope all has been well with you my friend. Definitely a rough start for us and I am anticipating more of the same for us these first couple seasons but hopefully we can grow and become more competitive. Thank you for following!
