TITANS SIGN WR MIKE WALLACE

Nashville, TN - The Titans still haven't named a starter at quarterback this year, but whoever it is will have plenty of toys to work with this season.

The Titans signed Mike Wallace yesterday to a one-year deal worth. Wallace cam off another sub-1000 receiving yards season with the Miami Dolphins, and recently asked for his release.

Wallace is expected to play this week as the Titans take on the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium. It is not known when Wallace will play, however.

To make room for Wallace, the Titans released HB/FB Shonn Greene.

TITANS TRASH JETS IN PRESEASON OPENER

Titans 56, Jets 14

The Titans held the Jets to 96 yards of total offense, and scored 26 first quarter points themselves in the preseason rout. Jake Locker looked great, throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 11-of-17 passing.

Three Stars of the Game

CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson - Seemingly lost on the depth chart, Wreh-Wilson had a huge pick-six early in the game on Geno Smith. Wreh-Wilson is expected to be the fourth cornerback behind Jason McCourty, Pacman Jones, and Cary Williams, but he could force his way into the nickel spot if he continues to play well.

QB Louis Gibson - While he did throw an early pick-six of his own, overall, Gibson conducted the offense very well, throwing for two touchdowns and 124 yards, as well as rushing for 67 yards, leading all ball carriers.

MLB Wesley Woodyard - He registered two sacks, one of them for a safety. Woodyard doesn't seem to have missed a step after missing the end of the season and the playoffs with an injury last season.

Accidentally simulated the game against the Bears. We won 20-3. Next post will be Week 2 cuts.

TITANS WEEK 2 CUTS

QB Charlie Whitehurst - With five quarterbacks on the roster, somebody had to go. Whitehurst is the first. Mettenberger likely will follow.

RG Tyler Horn - - After a season-ending injury last preseason, the Titans just wanted to give Horn one more opportunity to make the team.

OLB Lavar Edwards - Edwards never was much of a fit for the Titans 3-4 scheme.

CB Marqueston Huff - Huff was just in a crowded cornerback race.

WR Joe Webb - Same deal as Huff, just at wide receiver.

TITANS EDGE REDSKINS, 25-17

WEEK 3 CUTS

TE Taylor Thompson - He never seemed to develop into a true tight end for the Titans.

C Joe Berger - The Titans only plan on keeping nine offensive lineman, and I doubt they need three centers this season

LB Brayden Bray - The undrafted free agent just never seemed to adjust to playing as an outside linebacker in a 3-4.

LB Shaun Philips - He had a tremendous season last year, registering 13 sacks, but the Titans just felt like he was too old.

QB Zach Mettenberger - Mettenberger was beat out by Locker, Gibson, and Albury. Many Titans fans will likely be outraged by this.

WR T.J. Graham - The off-season acquisitions of Wes Welker and Mike Wallace made Graham expendable.
