Re: Boston College Eagles Dynasty (NCAA 2014)

No Air Defense

Boston College gives up 406 passing yards en route to a 40-30 loss.

The newly-ranked Eagles had no answer to the pass, allowing Will Gardner to pass for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 40-30 loss at #18 Louisville.

The Cardinals virtually had two 100-yard receivers, with James Quick receiving the ball 8 times for 110 yards and Devante Parker getting 5 receptions for 99 yards. They held a 17-3 lead at the end of the first and a 27-17 lead at the half.

James Walsh had a much better day than expected , going 14-for-26 with 180 passing yards, until he was knocked out for the game in the 4th, which pretty much ended the day for the Eagles. "I didn't feel like it would be worth it putting in redshirted QB Darius Wade. Even though we were only down 40-24 at the time, it would be too much of a waste if we ended up not winning the game after doing that" commented coach Davis Bradwell.

It was a pretty interesting day with James Walsh out, as we saw halfbacks Jonathan Hillman, David Dudeck and Myles Willis, wide receiver Harrison Jackson, all attempt passes. Even stranger, defensive players got in on the fun, with right end Kevin Kavalec completing a pass to
defensive tackle Connor Wujack for 9 yards to easily make that play possibly the strangest in Boston College Eagles football history.

The Eagles would score, but could not make the two-point conversion to effectively end the game 40-30. The Eagles will most likely be knocked out of the rankings this week as they fall to 6-5.

Next week is Senior Night in Boston, as the Eagles host the Syracuse Orange (6-5) for their final game of the season.

Re: Boston College Eagles Dynasty (NCAA 2014)

Comeback!

Boston College, down 17, comes back to secure perfect home record over Syracuse 28-24.

Comebacks are always exciting, but when it is done over a rival and at home, it makes it all the more exciting. In this comeback, Boston College was down 24-7 over rival Syrcause headed into the half. The secondary had done a poor job stopping Terrel Hunt and the offense, and James Walsh had thrown two picks, including one in the redzone. But the Eagles changed things up at halftime and quickly scored a TD to make it 24-14. After a setback in tight end Michael Giacone fumbling the ball near the redzone (after which he was immediately benched), the Orange drove down the field and missed a field goal wide right. The Eagles again drove and score a TD with 7:37 left in the 4th to make it 24-21. After a defensive stop, the Eagles were able to again drive down the field with leadership from James Walsh and took the lead with 4 minutes remaining. Syracuse mustered one last drive, but it ended on 4th down on the Eagles' side of the field to secure the comeback win for the Eagles.

Boston College is now undefeated at home this season, which is thanks to a weak schedule there and some great wins over teams like Clemson and Georgia Tech. The schedule at home next season will be much tougher, though, as Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Louisville SHOULD (key word) be home games next year.

Syracuse quarterback Terrel Hunt tore it up before getting injured in the 3rd, throwing for 228 yards and 2 TDs. Backup Mitch Kimble came in and only got 94 yards and threw a crucial interception in the 4th.

James Walsh never got injured, thankfully, and managed 205 yards and 2 picks. He also ran alongside Jonathan Hillman for 75 and 95 yards respectively. Senior Shakim Phillips had a great day to end what was a disappointing season, having 5 catches for 85 yards.

Boston College finishes the season at 7-5 and awaits to see what bowl game they will play in. Experts say the Liberty Bowl or BBVA Compass Bowl, so we will have to wait and see.

Re: Boston College Eagles Dynasty (NCAA 2014)

Right Direction

Boston College wins BBVA Compass Bowl over Ohio, 39-24.

The Eagles defense dominated the Ohio Bobcats, holding them to just over 250 yards as BC won 39-24. They now finish the season 8-5 (5-4).

Ohio's pistol running game proved ineffective throughout the entire first half, only getting 201 yards out of it all game. Quarterback Derrius Vick did not have a good day passing, going 8-for-19 with 57 yards.

Eagles quarterback James Walsh went 12-for-25, passing for 99 yards in a day that was mostly dominated by rushing. Jonathan Hillman and he each had 19 carries, with Hillman getting 104 yards and Walsh getting 112 yards. Myles Willis also got 12 carries for 60 yards.

The beginning of the game was mostly dominated by Boston College taking a 27-7 lead into the half. Ohio made it close on two lucky turnovers (James Walsh fumbling on a sack and an interception off a Michael Giacone drop (after which he was immeadiately benched)) and made it 27-24, but that was it for the Bobcats offense as the Eagles pulled away to win 39-24.

The Eagles finish the season with an 8-5 record, going 5-4 in conference. Fans are mostly happy with the first year of new coach Davis Bradwell's tenure, so we'll see what else he has in store for us.
